Crayton played in half the games that season. Don't try and portray it as if he came off the PS late in the season and lit it up. And 22 catches is probably not "above average" for a 3rd receiver. That may be "respectable" to you, but it's nothing to write home about. You give any receiver enough snaps and he should bring down at least that many catches.

So, yes, it took him several years to become a reliable and productive contributor to this team.

22 catches as a third WR is not respectable? Wow. You have some overly high expectations then. He had 34 the next year as a 3rd. Thats good.

Crayton was on the 53 at the beginning of his rookie year but did not have very many, if any, snaps on offense. He was sent to the PS and came back with two games left when we were hit hard with wr injuries. Remember us starting Randall Williams that year? Yeah. So 12 catches for a rookie first time WR with limited action is excellent imo.

Either you have crazy high standards for a third WR or you're a Crayton hater. And to think Stanback would have done the same is unwarranted. Injuries and willingness to be a wr saw to that.

Jason La Canfora, of the NFL Network, reports the New England Patriots have signed free-agent WR Isaiah Stanback (Cowboys) to their practice squad. The team is planning to move him to quarterback.


Looks like he won't be a WR for them.

i still think we should have brought him in as a QB from the beginning.

This I do agree with. We should have tried him at QB long ago instead of making him yet another one of our projects. The Pats are doing it right as far as I am concerned.


That said, Good riddance. He clearly was garbage to us as a so called project. I'm definitely not looking forward to seeing him have any success at the QB position for another team though. Time will tell...
