22 catches as a third WR is not respectable? Wow. You have some overly high expectations then. He had 34 the next year as a 3rd. Thats good.
Crayton was on the 53 at the beginning of his rookie year but did not have very many, if any, snaps on offense. He was sent to the PS and came back with two games left when we were hit hard with wr injuries. Remember us starting Randall Williams that year? Yeah. So 12 catches for a rookie first time WR with limited action is excellent imo.
Either you have crazy high standards for a third WR or you're a Crayton hater. And to think Stanback would have done the same is unwarranted. Injuries and willingness to be a wr saw to that.
