I’m not being emotional at all and I never suggested I was upset. I’m just part of the 95% that finds the constant fighting by the 5% boring and childish. I’m not suggesting you are part of the 5%…I really don’t know.
To be clear, I don’t have any issues with you and think you make a lot of great points on many threads. The reason I joined the discussion was to point out a specific case where being curt would likely not lead to a productive conversation. You entered the discussion by choosing to laugh at something
@Pokes12 said that was clearly intended to be serious. For the life of me, I can’t imagine how your comment wouldn’t be construed as anything other than a slight to his opinion. But only you know your true intent.
My issue is not the use of “lol” or even this specific post. It’s about having the self awareness to recognize the tipping point where respect and civility is likely to devolve into bickering and personal attacks. This was just 1 of many on this thread alone where you can witness the genesis of an argument.
Go to any thread and it’s easy to find the posts that starts the spiral. From there, the factions ready for battle, the lust for “likes” and validation ensues, and eyes of the 95% glaze over. Eventually the likes are harvested, the victor reigns supreme, and an uneasy calm is restored. But that’s just my opinion and I could be wrong.
