It sounds like you disagree with that rationale as would I. It's one thing if a team is running in signals and the other team can look and read what's going on. It's another thing if a team surreptitiously attempts to steal signals. That's messing around with the integrity of the game IMO. It's similar to point shaving or taking performance enhancing drugs. It should be met with the strictest of punishment.

Absolutely. There's no place for this in the game. I just hope the NFL won't be afraid to bring down the hammer if and when they get enough evidence.

I have a feeling it'll get swept under the rug, though. I can just hear Berman and Co. comparing it to stealing signs in baseball.

You mean like when the 9'ers circumvented the salary cap to win the Super Bowl back in '94?

Sources: Camera confiscated after claims of Pats spying on Jets

NFL security confiscated a video camera and its tape from a New England Patriots employee on the team's sideline during Sunday's game against the Jets in a suspected spying incident, sources said.
The camera and its tape were placed in a sealed box and forwarded to the league office for investigation, the sources said.

"We don't have any comment," an NFL spokesman said Monday.

The Patriots' cameraman was suspected of aiming his camera at the Jets' defensive coaches who were sending signals to their unit on the field, the sources said. The league also is investigating some radio frequency issues that occurred during the game.

The league's competition committee could conduct a conference call about the incident, which violates NFL policy, and ultimately recommend a penalty that could cost the Patriots a future draft pick or picks if it verifies that the team was spying on the Jets.

"It's not their first time," a member of the committee, who did not wish to be identified, said.

In fact, Green Bay Packers president Bob Harlan confirmed a similar incident that occurred when the Patriots played at Lambeau Field last Nov. 19. The same cameraman who was questioned by NFL security on Sunday was also the one whom the Packers removed from the sideline and escorted from the field during their 2006 game, according to Packers security official Doug Collins.

"From what I can remember, he had quite a fit when we took him out," Harlan said. "We had gotten word before the game that they [the Patriots] did this sort of thing, so we were looking for it."

A Jets official declined comment Monday, directing an inquiry to the league office. The Patriots also did not have immediate comment.

I know this isnt Cowboys related but i suspect people will find this interesting...

This is ********. They cant watch that from their own sideline? From the stadium? From the coaches box? From the television feed? What a joke, this cant be serious.

why cant they do some spying the old fashioned way by signing and releasing players from the teams you are about to play. I think Parcells used this tactic. If you like at the signings and releasings at the beginning of the season(what he called roster churn) it kind of coordinated with the our schedule. I am sure teams all spy on each other but I do not condone 'in-game'

Personally-I find this to be bogus.

Anyhow-this is going to be one LONG season-it seems like 90%+ teams out there are having ALOT of problems. If you think we do with the injuries, just look at many others.

If Wade Wilson, a COACH gets five games for using illegal substances, the Pats should be penalized with a very heavy fine and at least one high pick...that is completely unethical....smart...but unethical.

Yeah, if this story came out about the Cowboys, it would be FRONT PAGE NEWS and Berman would be screaming about it. But the Patriots...well, surely there is an explananation...let us let the facts be borne out. What a bunch of hypocrites.

Folks, go look at my old posts from when the Super Bowl was in Houston a few years back. I was crying then that the Cowboys got no respect at the massive NFL Experience show, from anyone. It was ridiculous. Yet, the Patriots are the darlings. And I know they were in the SB that year, but other teams who weren't there got lots of exposure. LOTS.

What was the name of that Alanis Morrisette album...oh yeah, "Under Rug Swept."

Any coach worth his salt will cheat if he can get away with it. That is the nature of the game. That is why many coaches are so paranoid and scared the death of lightning, lol.

I hope they take away their first round draft pick in 08 and give the win to the Jets, making the Patriots 0-1. I'm dead serious too.

That is dispicable. The NFL strives so hard to make things even for all teams and wants parity... yet a team that had tons to spend in free agency and two first round picks feels the need to steal other teams signals.

Heck, no wonder Brady could sit back and read the paper in the pocket. Belicheck knows those signals because he used to be their coach's mentor and taught him that defense. So he gets the signals and knows exactly what is coming and how to attack it.

That just pisses me off if it's true. Competitive balance my ***. He wants to pull some cheater crap like that to help win the game. No wonder the score was so lopsided.

They were accused of doing the same thing last season. I'm sure they've done it each game. Dancing in San Diego after stealing the signals in the playoffs.

I say take away more than their first rounder and the win against the Jets. If the Commish wants to send a message and keep the NFL clean (and legal) he needs to come down on that franchise like a ton of Rosie O'Donnell body hair.

the sad part is that some people in the media are acting like its ok to cheat :bang2: :bang2:

It is not okay to cheat!!! i guarantee that if it were any other team the media would be all over them but no since everyone in the media loves the freaking patriots they are almost applauded. saying that Belichick is a master and thats y he has won 3 SB's... pathetic...
