He deserved to still be able to turn the corner or break off an occasional 20 yard run. However, we have a fullback being paid like he is all pro.

Cut him and send him packing.
If we had a o line....he wouldnt have to turn corners. Tony wouldnt have to showcase HIS speed to the edge.

When was the last time you saw an o lineman 5 yards up the field looking for someone to pancake?
But its all zekes fault.

If he's not off the team it's a complete failure by ownership. He's worth vet minimum and that's about it.

Didn't zeke finish terribly in pass protectio this year while Pollard made a massive jump and finished near the top?

Zeke is still a good play that can help....anyone that doesn't see this, doesn't know football. I agree, he needs to take a big paycut.
In the ways you think he can help, do you think it would be easy to draft a back in the back half of the draft that could do the same? Or do you see effectiveness thet would set him apart from newbies?

I like Zeke, but the stuff he does well, can be done by a FB that we can draft on day 3, who will be playing for nothing, plus a true FB will be able to lead block for Pollard and new RB.
And, we know MM likes traditional FBs.

The things he does well - pass protection, short yardage, goal line, catching the ball, average running ability, and a good knowledge of the game - are worth $3-4 million a year.

I can't imagine any team offering more than that.
I bet some team offers more. Zeke is a name. Teams want to fill seats and generate interest.

The thing is, I don't think *we* should. We should be bringing on young guys to replace Pollard. Zeke will be pure progress stopper for that.

If we're only looking at next year, then yeah, Zeke for 3-4 is a decent number for us in that role.
But Zeke taking a RB roster spot is a bad play for our future.

Zeke should hate Dak.. sadly they are besties. Zeke should have had a ring in 2016 with Romo as QB. Zeke was a show stopper in that first year.. truly one in a generation.

The only hesitation I have in letting him go is that Kellen was a particularly bad play caller for runners.. continually ignored, under used, misused etc etc. If you re-watch the first half of this season.. Zeke looked better than he has in years.. he AND Pollard were carving big numbers.. and they both were top 5 RBs during the Rush 5 game period. Then Dak comes back and Zeke just continued to decline until yes.. there is no doubt he was next to useless by the end of the season.

I still think he has value.. but probably not here. I think he will find a spot somewhere else.

Then, knowing our luck, Pollard will never be the same after his injury.. Davis won't come on.. and then we will get to see just how woeful Dak is.

Whether they saw it or not.. Zeke WAS the reason Dak looked good during his rookie deal. It is such a shame to see how fast he has declined and how little value we got out of him.

Teams cheat to middle against Zeke because he cannot make the corner. How did Pollard lead the league in YPC behind the sorry OL?

The corner he can make is down the street where he his directed to on his way out the door.

What’s the going rate for softening ‘em up?

keeping zeke sound absolve dak of all criticisms - this is the most annoyed I’ve been about a player that i can recall and that’s been for years. Not even zeke’s fault.

Oh i forgot about jaylon

But yeah Amari was a problem. Stephen is a clown

And while he’s clearly not worth big money, he’s also not worthless as sone suggest. The answer as always lies somewhere in between.

I think he can have a role on this team in a power running game. The change to a more finesse offensive line and running game didn’t do a power back any favors.
Having him at a $7 or 8 million cap hit is kind of ridiculous. But if you want the most cap savings at the start of FA as possible from him, the big pay cut is the way to go. You only save $4.9 million as a regular cut.

He's going to count as 11+ million against the cap no matter what we do. A pay cut does nothing to change that. How they choose to distribute that 11M is what is in question. The one thing we know for sure is it won't be more than that.
