His value has to be measured against the draft class. He;s not worth the CAP, not even the post June cut of $5.8m dead money. If he wants to stay, even as a 3rd down short yardage option he needs to restructure to a team friendly deal.
They can't restructure that money away. No way to avoid it.

I’ve been saying all along he’s going to have to take a massive pay cut even have a chance to stay with the team.

Forget the contract. Is he even worth of a roster spot? Seems like a better discussion to me.
I know I'll be called crazy but to me if you cut Zeke and take the hit you should let Pollard walk and grab a couple in the draft and roll with it. I THINK POLLARD IS GOOD but is he 10 million better than 2 fresh hungry rookies who could do the job while you eat Zeke's 6 mill.

Going to be hilarious when he out performs TP on a new team next year for less than we will be paying TP. Draft a rb in a later round and let both Zeke and TP go. If Zeke's contact was not so bad I would have loved to see him stay and play in the West Coast offense. Oh well.

I wonder if they are looking at moving Zeke to a fullback role like Kuhn used to play for Green Bay

I agree with you. Especially if that top RB falls to us. I know people don't like RBs in the first round, but it's late first round, and we need offense. I like Pollard too, but I like a few on a rookie deal better.

This approach is just like my old single days at the bar around last call….it never hurts to ask.

He says no? We cut him

I said something similar. After seeing how some of these other top teams are assembled seeing rookie backs on rookie contracts sounds nice.

His decline started when he came back from his vacation from Cabo and signed that big contract. Then he got fat and lazy and never returned to his old form.

Cowboys should have traded him then when he had value. Now he takes up both cap space and a roster spot.
nope .. that's what the Zeke haters want to sink their Barbeque teeth into ....some here want to keep keep the crusade that zeke is a effortless player.

. sunny side Cajun weather does not sap your burst and agility. like a vampire to hot sunlight ..

it started after 2017, when Garrett and the late RB coach Gary Brown, decided to place even far more offensive burden on Zeke,...bulked him up
and flat pounded him down - the dude did not even get backup RB relief as Rod Smith was so useless, the Cowboys could not even afford to keep Zeke
off the field.

Even zeke had a comment that " he was so sore to death " ..rushing,.. catching out of backfield, .. blitz blocking ..
.. this was the one time he could not tap his head to come out for a breathe relief.

It really boils down to production, is whats considered "Top RB's in the leagues" production 10 million better than the no name RB's production on teams? Do i like Miles Sanders? Sure, do i think Pacheko would've looked real good in the Eagles offense..YES

The first 3 years he was a complete beast. Then we started seeing him going into self preservation mode by taking himself out of the game on the regular…….I don’t remember #22 doing that back in the day

but, I agree, I wish the ending would have been on a higher note
The reason that was done is because jg and km do not know how to manage the run game.
Not only did they force zeke to sub himself, they advertised pollard and his plays, which are generally different. This lets the defense sub as well.

Bad for both players.

Better recently, but for awhile it was maddening. Dont blame zeke for it.

About 2 years ago Zeke had a few times where he was out in the open and just could not hit the third gear anymore. It was obvious to anyone that the burst was gone. He is worse now then he was then. I actually think let them both go and start fresh. That running back with KC at the end of the year was a 7th round pick.

Yep. Zeke haters think it makes them really cool to say stupid stuff.
Id add that not just blitz blocking. I seen zeke block d linemen and big lbers.
The last play of the season shows us the stupidity of how we used....abused...zeke is whole career.
Fans think its fun and funny curbstomping his face. They even cheat and lie about his stats.
Look people, if we have to move on or pay peanuts, fine. Try to have some dignity about it. If yoi have any. I know some of ya dont.

With a good o line, good coach and feared qb.

Exactly, he either rips up the contract or he's cut as a June (giving us a $10 mil) to be spent on in-season deals. Either he takes the cut or jhe's gone.
