People Don’t Want To Hear It

And like Martin, there's a good chance he's an OG in the NFL. Do you want to use a Top 10 pick on an OG?

Ask yourself why only the Cowboys would need to throw so many high picks and money to get a good OL when other teams do it with far less resources?

Just spitballing to get the best 5 but I'd try him at LC's spot and shift LC to LG beside Smitty. Do the best in re capturing the 2016 dominance when Leary was at LG.

To answer your second question and no offense in advance if you hold different opinion, "Quarterbacking and Coaching."

Doesn't do much to improve the defense, especially up the middle when you are looking at using a 4th round pick on two needs - MLB and DT.

I'm looking at the old keep the dee off the field philosophy by establishing dominant TOP.

You can’t fix everything in one year....but I do know this a 3rd pick at NT is more than any resource we’ve put to it in 15 or so years.

A huge part of our issues on D last year was a scheme our players couldn’t execute.

I've been saying for weeks he is the Zach Martin Clone, but all I hear is his arms are too short.
If he is a clone of Martin, I dont care who else is on the board or how short his arms are....he HAS to be the pick.

Martin is a HOF player.

Problem is thats all speculation as far as Slater.

He is another, along with Pitts, where I dont think we are going to have the problem of whether to take him or not

In fact I think the hype on Slater has gotten to where he goes before Sewell.

Slater is a legit blue chip prospect. I would still draft Pitts ahead of him, but not any of those corners or even Parsons.

We had the scheme for one year. DT play has been suspect for years. Talent is a bigger issue than scheme.

I think people thinking Quinn is going to turn JAGs at DT into a good group are going to be disappointed.

And yeah you can’t fix everything in one year but if you keep using first round picks on OL and offensive players, it’s going to take longer to get good, young talent that makes the D better.

I would not mind Slater at 10. If Sewel gets past Atlanta and Cinci, he's probably falling to us.

To me, it’s clear that Slater is the better player between him, Surtain and Horn. I think the comp for Slater is a more athletic Zack Martin. I don’t think the comps for Surtain and Horn are Ramsey or other top corners. Top corners are ballhawks. I like them, but Slater is better.

Also, Tyron hasn’t played a full season since 2016 and Freddo retired. What about first round picks on OL?

You cannot force elite D prospects to be at the top of the draft this year. They aren’t there.

Exactly who I'd pick if I just gave out $125 million in guarantees to a guy whose edge protection are both coming off major surgeries.

Unless coach Philbin, along with the likes of Steele, Knight or Neske(sp?) are your idea of long term answers and not just spot starters.

All depends on the FO's risk/reward assessment of the CB and TE payoff as compared to an OT choice and full confidence in incumbent OT starters not getting hurt again.

As last year showed again. Football is still won and lost in the trenches.

I mean Chaz Green wasn't so long ago that I've forgotten.
Nice post:starspin:

No, you try like hell to trade back.

Because the don’t want OL in one......but.....

Give me the Oline stud over Pitts. Now if the Cowboys hadnt taken Lamb last year, then maybe Pitts is more a realistic possibility.

Cowboys Zone will like the Giants and Eagles picks in the first round better then the Cowboys pick. This is gonna be a tough draft. We will probably have a chance to draft the top corner, possibly the best offensive linemen, best linebacker, and maybe best receiver. 5 quarterbacks are gonna go in the top 9.

The offensive line is about 20% of the football team. Martin was drafted in 2014. I’d say it’s not too soon to take another, especially if he’s in Martin’s class as a prospect.

I agree! Too bad we need defense so bad, plus, since Jerry just invested so much in Dak, it wouldn’t surprise me if he pushed for Pitts at 10.

I’d gladly take Pitts over Slater. I would take Pitts over any other player at 10. I always go BPA.

Everyone is melting over Rashawn Slater, yet Slater ain't ish compared to total beast Teven Jenkins!

I'll take Teven Jenkins every day of the week over Rashawn Slater.

1. Dallas has eleven picks - using a first overall on offense will not crush this draft.
2. Slater is considered to be the most fundamentally sound OL in this draft. He can play inside or out.
3. Arm length is a standard excuse. Martin was playing tackle like a champ on short notice. With the same short arms.
4. Pitts will be to TE's what Moss was to WR's. He is more than a TE. Will Dallas see this comparison and not make the Moss mistake again?

There are several ways to approach this draft. One pick in the first not being defense will not ruin the season.

I would not be sad at picking Surtain. But I would also see this draft start off well if Slater or Pitts were selected.

I want no part of Parsons.

As much as we need defense there just aren't many players I want to draft in rd 1 over some of these blue chip offensive guys.
I'd rather take the stud OT or TE than a good CB at 10.
