Well said Syd. The only hope I have for the next few years is Jerry at the very least hires a STRONG head coach
and backs off having his face in front of every microphone and hand in every decision. My hope for that is very low.

But as I type this unless things get worse, I’m doubtful he makes those changes.
Jerry is like Roger Goodell , their egos are bigger than the game of football its self.Jerry needs to hire a GM , a great football mind but he won 't and that is what is wrong with the Dallas Cowboys. If Jerry would get out of the GM TITLE you would see team improvment.

Yeah I think most of us understand that we are likely a .500 at best team the next 2-3 years. I was hopeful over this past offseason they would commit to a semi rebuild and fixing the cap issues, but they really just elected to delay the inevitable.

..I agree to a point. My feeling is we need better HC, who understand modern football tactics.

Talent will always flutter to either side. Zimmer and MM dont have the tools for modern football.

They are members of Jurassic period. The saying comes t o mind: "YOu cant teach these old dogs new tricks".

Go beyond this year, we are about to enter a pretty rough stretch of Cowboys football for the next few years.

This isn't like the last time we fell apart when we went 6-10 a few years ago. That was largely a pretty talented team derailed by Dak breaking his ankle.

This time around, the team isn't nearly as talented. Jerry has allowed talent and depth to run off, he's stacked a couple of suspect drafts together, especially last year's where our top two picks are total duds. Jerry will be searching for a new coach but he's likely going to still try to fill the spot with a guy that fits the most important criteria - be a good soldier, allow Jerry to meddle in all aspects of the team and be fine with Jerry trying to hog all the limelight and credit.

Dak coming back doesn't change the calculus next year. Neither does Parsons, for that matter. Dak needs to be surrounded with top level talent and this offense lacks it. We have one skill player, ONE, that you could say is at the top of barrel in terms of pecking order. Philly, for example, has at least three with Brown and Smith and Barkley. The difference in skill talent between us and Philly is massive and unfortunately Dak needs a roster like Philly to win. And it's not getting fixed in one offseason, especially since the owner and his son have gotten cheaper and cheaper in FA.

We are staring into the abyss with no real hope because the owner/GM is a stubborn, arrogant old fool who despite his fans all having eyes and can see what he did and the product he put on the field still believes he's rolling out a talented team that's just unlucky. He'll blame injuries as well.

You want me to believe otherwise? Then let's see Jerry make an outside the box hire for the next coach, not some retread or guy he's familiar with like Moore or Zimmer who is allowed to build a staff that works for him, not a staff that works for Jerry. Let's see them work their cap to utilize FA to fill clear roster holes with good players, no bargain bin slop. Let's see him approach the draft with a focus on getting tougher and better in the trenches, especially the DL. Eschew the shiny toy that might sell you a few more jerseys because he runs fast, no, instead, start building a "team" not just a collection of players you think you can market the crap out of.

I suspect none of the above will happen. Because Jerry is what Jerry is. He's a failure, and I don't expect that to change.
He gave a contract to a QB that NO OWNER OR GM IN THE HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE WOULD HAVE. He’s an imbecile and an ignoranus.

There is a better chance the Cowboys fall to the bottom of the division then go to the top the next few years and Dak will get all the blame.

JJ & Company are pushing for 50 years of futility.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid, that you're right. Brace yourselves for more crappy seasons! I hope I'm wrong, though.
I expect continued mediocrity for the next several years.

Watch the games, enjoy rooting for them, expect the worst and hope for the best.

Sundays will still be exactly the same as before with good friends, great food and adult beverages flowing.

I'm not a believer in Dak based on the last 9 seasons ,but this is the first season where I put 100% blame on this FO.

To me he's a B+ quarterback being paid like an A+ one but that's not his fault......it's the FOs and it's their fault that they have not surrounded him with a real roster

I don't mind losing.....if i know my Owner/GM has done all he can do to garner the best roster he can.

The FO truly wasted this entire season and it was TOTALLY AVOIDABLE.
Bro, i hear ya.
I'm all about a blow it all up and start from scratch mentality at this point.
That would require 2 things though.
1. 2 to 3 yrs of bottoming out record wise and receiving top 5 to 10 draft picks rebuild pieces.

2. Having the right leaders in place to know how to use all those premium picks.

Unfortunately...
On number 1 the team would probably somehow wiggle into 7 and 8 win seasons and not reap the benefits of higher picks.
And on 2, we definitely don't have the right people in place to do the draft rebuild even if we did totally suck for 3 years.

We are so screwed.

I get it losing feels hopeless and feels like there's no future. The Cowboys have holes to fill, but look in this league it can turn around quickly. Maybe this type of season gets Jerry motivated to make some more moves and atleast brings in a better coaching staff.

The Cowboys were coming off 3 straight 12 win seasons there should still be enough talent here to be competitive. They need to get better in the trenches though and a fresh coaching perspective.

This yr...yup, draft high enough for a blue chip prospect....give me a chris jones type, they grow on trees /s

Getting a 4th or 5th place schedule will vrs sched this yr
O.line will slowly improve, DE position health

All above can generate a .500 season, +/- a game

We will be in draft purgatory....blue chips gone

FA?.....JJ not proactive or savy enough
With this culture, even the home grown talent slacks after getting paid....let alone a merc FA
