If Romo hangs it up after this season due to injury we will have approximately $42 million in dead money next year.

This is the system Dallas has had in place for years, so I'm not sure why it would be a surprise. The Cowboys will keep restructuring and pushing money around because that's how you manipulate this system unless you can constantly replenish your roster with young, cheaper talent or cheap vets.

Dallas does it this way because they still think it's 1994 and they don't know how to manage the Cap circa 2014. It's call bad management . . . .

Bad defense, great defense...it doesn't matter. Both Eli and Flacco benefited from playing with good/great defenses. But even they had a moment or two in the playoffs where it was solely on their shoulders to win the game and they came through for their teams. Flacco vs Denver. Eli's magnificent 4th quarter vs San Fran. Both games on the road in hostile environments and in extremely high-pressure situations. Romo is incapable of making the play in the playoffs. The guy will throw an interception before a game-winning TD in the playoffs. That's just who he is.

Let me put things into context instead of blanket statements without it. Tony had two balls dropped on him in the Giant's game that could've won it. Eil's magnificent 4th quarter also included two so poorly thrown balls that TWO 49er defenders knocked each other off the ball or they would've been easy INT's. Flacco took advantage of one of the worst bonehead mistakes in playoff history.

But -- they did it and they won, can't argue that but here's the thing. We will always agree to disagree on Romo but you have no idea if he will do it or not, nor do I. But I root for him to do it whereas I get the impression you guys are holding your breath for the "I told you so" moment if he never does and that is sad.

If there's one thing I'm thankful for for Jerry, it's that he has deep pockets and can shell out a bunch of money at will without regard as to how he's going to get it.

There's nothing more I'd love to see than a Cowboys Super Bowl with Tony Romo. But I have to admit, I go into every series thinking to myself "how will Romo **** up this time".

Good post but Tony Romo, DWARE and other Cowboy Vets represent the old regime that could not and did not get it done.....today many of the fans are yearning for a fresh face...a new hope, waiting and wanting Jerry Jones to bring in some new energy. A new leader for this team, a leader to provide a spark, a glimmer of hope and a brighter future. I for one want to see a franchise on the rise not on the decline.

Why are you bringing up something that happened so long ago? How about 2012 with the division and playoffs on the line? That was the most recent version of Romo in a win or go home/playoff type game. What did HE do in that game? 3 interceptions against the 30th ranked passing defense in the league.. that's what. His contract is going to KILL this team for YEARS to come.

I'm not a Psychic nor a betting man, but Romo is about done. Last year he had a good year but he wasn't himself. His arm has become suspect probably due to other injuries, maybe his back. I think he plays MAYBE two years. We better be drafting a QB!!!!!

Wow, I'm impressed, I thought ufc was going to rage about the pick Tony threw in the last Sunday night game against Philly. Maybe he does watch an occasional game. Well... nah, probably not. Funny in his hypocritical way he himself had to go back to 2012... he wouldn't dare bring up the circumstances surrounding Romo's final pass of 2013, now would he?

They could still draft Manziel (or any other coveted QB) if he fell for whatever reason and later traded down the road if Romo's back does prove to be 100%; back to 2012 levels (not 13). Like mentioned, rookie QB contracts are easily manageable with the new CBA. In my opnion, it would be a waste of a pick considering this recent restructure and last years contract ,etc. But it wouldn't be hard to manage cap wise, and the team could stick with that rookie QB down the road if Romo's back reverts to 2013 form and the team has to eat that huge contract.
