Per Jerry: A certain DE is near the top of our board

I would put my money on Cameron Jordan

thank god, i think he fits our scheme with rob ryan beyter than watt. Can move him all along the line and he wont be out of his depth stood up and moving off the line in ryans amoeba D

I'd be pretty happy with one of the DE picks. Especially if we got it in a trade down. We could get OG/OC with the trade down and our second rounder and end up with three quality trench players. That strategy lines up pretty well with where the talent is in the draft. Dealing Bennett for more depth wouldn't upset me, either.

We'd have to address S and OT in FA, but we could get that done if we were committed to doing it.

i agree with your overall philosophy of trench players at the top of the draft

however, in the top 10-15 picks it needs to be trench players at an imoact position

in the 3-4, DE is generally not considered an impact position
of all the teams now playing 3-4 (and there are many) other than ngata (who also plays NT) and seymour, there is no 3-4 DE that one would feel justified spending a top 10-15 pick on

chances are slim that any of these DE will change that trend

this is why i would focus on OL (OT and even center) with the first pick and then go elsewhere

Uh guys, I hate to state the obvious but clearly he's referring to Kenrik Ellis!

The NFL Channel carried the start of the presser and then just programmed other stuff over it. Before it was initially cut, Jerry stated that every player had seven independent evaluations that came together before the group started hasing out information. The time frame for that was in December, before the further All Star games and then the combine. The Cowboy Scout department was composed of 18 people in the field, as well as Cisnowski heading it. Jerry intimated that the actual sum spent annually on this scouting undertaking was a staggering sum of direct and travel costs in of itself. He also stated that this year had additional time being committed to the task given all the lack of actual player interactions during this off season.

This draft board should be a great one...

I like Jordan more, too, and IIRC we were more interested in him early in the process before all the BS starts flying. But that scouts survey that preferred Watt by a pretty big margin makes me pause.

I like their ability equally, however, I like Watt's intangibles much more. Jordan strikes me as a little goofy, not that there's anything particularly wrong with that, but it does make me less certain on him

I can live with OT first, too. To your point about not taking DEs high, though, I don't have a problem taking any three-down player if the guy's going to give you a long and steady career and plenty of snaps. Not every pick has to be an impact pick. Picking early in round one, it's much more important that you not miss on a player entirely than it is for you to get lucky and get all-pro impact.

I'm pretty sure anything Jerry says before the draft 100% smokescreen. We have no idea what de he could be looking at. Hey it could be Daquan bowers

Peterson plays DE now?

Say hello to JJ Watt my friend..he's going to be our pick..whether it's at 9 or 17..or anywhere in between

:hammer:

Trade down for Watt then trade back up into the late 1st and take Solder.

I heard a description that getting Watt would be like a better Tony Tolbert.

JJ Watt will not be the Cowboys 1st pick.

Hey gang I know we just went 6-10, have no DB's, 1 linemen, and a perpetually banged up QB. But heres this try hard DE who will give you 100% and you know wont be trouble off the field

You could be correct but i'm sticking with trade up for Peterson or Smith.
