I have definitely been accused of being condescending on the other hand. If that's the case here, apologies. It ain't intentional. I'm looking for answers and figuring this is the place to come for them. I figure direct is the best approach.

I get the money part. Really. We all have our price. :)

Now I'm wondering about the other parts. If you were in Rivera's shoes, given the circumstances in Dallas right now, would you consider it a good move?
If my aim were to get out of Lovie's shadow - definitely. If my aim was to get more cash - definitely. Those reasons make sense, even though they're completely speculative right now.

You guys, over on ES, talking draft yet?

Normally that would be all we would be talking about around these parts, but with the whole Coaching change and stuff it is put on hold for a few.

Ugg...the offseason sucks when you only really follow football.

I catch a little college basketball from time to time but other than that...ugg.
Dude, some people have been talking draft on ES since we lost the first preseason game.

And some are already talking about the 2008[b/] draft.

It's both the benefit and the curse of a large board. As you well know. :)

Me, I'm taking a couple weeks to recharge my Commanders batteries before FA starts and just enjoying the rest of life for a while. Part of that, I'll admit, is watching what your team is up to since the Norv angle is so personal to a whole generation of Skins fans.

At the risk of opening a can of worms ... I apparently missed the discussion as to why in the world Rivera would leave a Super Bowl team for a lateral transfer, to coach under a widely considered much lesser head coach, on a less accomplished team. Particularly when the Head Coach-In-Waiting Jason Garret is already in place on said less accomplished team.

Honest question from an outsider. I can't see what's in it for Rivera.

More money! Rivera makes 500,000 a year by the Bers and is the league's lowest-paid defensive coordinator. Jones paid Zimmer over 1Million last year for hte same job.

At this stage, I'd just like to hear something. One way or the other; anything. Bad news, good news, don't care. Starving for news.

:laugh2: nice cheap-shot, hit 'em where it hurts ;)

:laugh2: Well I can see how that could be taken that way...and I guess it would fit.

However that was not my intention at all.

I just know normally by now we would all be blabbing about the draft and so on, but this coaching change has been a nice distraction from that.

It will make the offseason not seem as long as normal IMO.

yes, we would, since we actually have quite a few picks to look forward to, the Skins, not so much

but I knew you weren't trying to take a shot at him

rivera has a choice right now- Dallas or staying in chicago. There are no other HC slots open, and I am not sure but are any DC slots left now?
Chicago has been notoriously cheap- I doubt they are going to change now.
had Lovie won last night he would have a LOT of leverage- but losing and looking bad in losing a lot of that leverage has gone. Same with rivera; so he has to make a choice. And its pretty widely bandied about in the League that Lovie has a fair amount of influence on the D side of the ball. If Rivera comes to Dallas with Norv as HC, then there will be no doubt that the Dallas D will be all up to Rivera.
