Listening to Wade's press conference this afternoon, of course the pass defense was brought up a couple of times and Wade's response was that the Cowboy's are playing much more man to man pass defense and it's not working.

So where do we go from here? I guess we should expect to see more zone defense from here on out. That's the logical conclusion.

What are your thoughts on this?

I'd ask him if it isn't working why not play a lot more zone.....perhaps, I dunno, during the Giants game.....:)

I think we will see a mix of zone and man coverage. I'm quite sure they will continue to work on both

well if we cant play man then we better find new CB's and have them give their paycheck back

alot of money being spent at that position

if they want to play zone then press at the line with safety help to disrupt the timing

and cross your fingers if you expect Hamlin to help

Errrr....it seemed it was the zone that was a problem. One guy would release the WR and no one would pick him up. The man to man wasn't much better. So is there something other than zone and man to man? :bang2:

I dont know how much I buy it. I also read that he said "we'll have to help some guys more"...I'm guessing with the safeties, so what have the safeties been doing the first two games if they werent helping anyone? I never saw them roaming around back there and jumping routes. They certainly werent helping in run support. The few times it appeared they were supposed to get over for double teams, they were always late. So what were they doing?

The coverage was definitely mediocre, but the pass rush has totally disappeared. Of course Wade claimed we "dont see what he see's"

Whatever Wade.

No coverage is going to work if we don't start sacking the QB. Our pass rush hasn't been non-existent, but there's no doubt that it really needs to improve.

man to man doesn't work if you get a crap pass rush.

come to think of it zone doesn't really work well then either

I don't understand.

How do other teams make chicken salad out of their CBs ( I am pretty sure they don't have Deon or Champ Baileys manning both CBs) and we manage to make chicken sh**.

Last year they had plenty of pressure on the QB and the secondary was still bad... It's the players folks!

Exactly, you want to help your coverage, get pressure so they don;t have to cover as long or as well!

Been saying this for a while. Everyone wants man to man all the time, but when your guys can't cover well enough, it's a recipe for big plays.

I never got why so many people thought man to man was some panacea. It sounds great and it's kind of a macho type coverage to run, but most defenses play zones for a good reason.

Burned defense, which is what we're playing now.

How about we get a DB coach that teaches the DB's to follow the ball and read the QB instead of trying to mimic the WR route and make a half-***** attempted to bat away the ball after the WR has already made the reception. Maybe if we actually read the QB's eyes and jumped some routes we could get a turnover or two. I know it's playing more risky but letting receivers catch the ball 10 yards at a time isn't working either.

I don't see sacks. Or turnovers. Or the ability to stop teams on 3rd down.

I really don't care what else Wade sees.

As I stated earlier, the problem is a product of talent, not scheme.

You can't play man to man if you cannot rush the passer. Hell, it's hard enough to play zone with no pass rush.

Cowboys played alot of man to man, as the defense keyed the run alot. It helped stop the Giants run, but made us vulnerable to the pass, especially since we could not get to Manning, even on a blitz.
