Well, Seattle is so young right now that they probably felt like, because of cap reasons and the time it usually takes to develop an NFL WR, that it was in their best interests to trade for an experienced guy as opposed to draft somebody. Seattle believes that they are going to be drafting at the bottom of the 1st round the next few years and they may be right. They also believe that if they can get a speed guy at WR, they can force the 49ers into a defensive liability. 49ers have a poor Defensive Backfield, as we all know. If Seattle can force the 49ers to keep their safeties back, then they have a QB who can make them pay with his rushing ability and it also opens up the field for him. If you look at Wilson's numbers, they are not fantastic when he has to throw the ball down field, but, they are pretty decent when he can use the short game and a speed WR makes that easier. Plus, they have a punishing Ground Game that only gets tougher if you can't play a Safety down in the box. The 49ers have to choose. Do they cover Harvin deep and open up the game for Seattle or do they keep a Safety in the box and risk getting beaten by Harvin? Either way, Seattle sees this a step in the right direction for them, against SF.
Having said all of this, I agree, the Vikings did to Seattle what Jimmy and Jerry did to the Vikings.
