Perhaps the QB decision was made before last night

No reason to keep both Grier and Rush.

If Grier is ready for the #2 job, then no upside with Rush.

If Grier can't beat out Rush at this point then he is not worth keeping. He has been in the NFL long enough.

DiNucci has upside which is what you want as the #3 QB.

Agreed.

Still think if DiNucci can turn it on in last 2 games he can beat out Grier, but it will be difficult.
DiNucci to Practise Squad, most likely. Can't see them carrying 3 QBs.

My interest level is pretty low for preseason games, but I am curious to see how Grier plays next week (assuming he plays)

I think the QB position is already settled. Grier has had a pretty good camp, and I think they rested him last night for two reasons.

1. Protect him and that groin because he's already won the job, at least over Rush.

2. Give Rush a chance to showcase himself for other teams.

DiNucci showed a lot of improvement, so I think they're going with Dak, Grier, and DiNucci this year. Nooch was more accurate and made better decisions this game, even with that crazy throwing motion. Pretty strong arm, accurate, and nice rotation on the ball.

I think they play Rush plenty this week, too, out of appreciation so he can try to catch on somewhere (and eat up a lot of those minutes).

Babe Laufenberg said on the pre-game show last night, that Grier is the better QB overall of the backups, but needs to step up and show it. He has been in camp. But now in theses games.

I like Rush, but he reminds me of Gary Hogeboom for those that remember him. Ok in a pinch, but that's about it.

The Nooch has come a long way since that start against Philly. Still has a ways to go.

I'll admit, I must have just crawled out from underneath a rock, but who the hell is Grier? First I've heard of him.
Hogeboom had a cannon for an arm, Rush not so much.

For other teams? No one would trade for Rush.

I don’t believe the Cowboys would settle on a backup QB who they’ve never seen play in a game for them. Big difference between actual games and practice. Will Grier wasn’t even healthy enough to play last night so I wouldn’t be handing him the job just yet. Availability is a big deal and he wasn’t available last night.

Will Grier will become Dak's backup QB. Cooper Rush will be let go. DiNucci will be moved to the Practice Squad once again. No way does the team occupy a roster spot for a 3rd QB.

I like Sam Howell, but I'm a Tarheel.
He looked good in his debut with Washington.
Seems like, at an absolute minimum, a long-term quality backup.
The guy has always seemed like a Mayfield with better running ability to me.

That QB class was not great, but negative momentum pushed the whole group much further down on draft day than they should've been.
Howell going in the 5th round was just silly.

Like all the Grier stories here and sounds like the only backup we have who could move on to something else, but we’re fooling ourselves if we think he’s getting a backup spot if he can’t get on the field.

He was 2nd team all Big12 conference at W Virginia. I thought he might go higher than a 3rd round pick.

He was listed on preseason watch lists for several national awards, including the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, and Davey O'Brien Award. Grier appeared in several preseason lists of potential Heisman Trophy candidates.

Yep

He might not clear wavers but no one is trading for him. It’s more likely we’d keep 3 QB’s with Daks injury history and Nooch ends up on PS.

I could even see us putting Grier on injury list . Rush big win in Minnesota last year prob keeps him a roster spot.
