He's on the same tier as McCarthy as one of the most successful head coaches of the era. He can come in right away and win but he's also old enough that he knows he's not here long. So if he has no issue with Witten being on the staff it works and Witten gets to learn how to be a pro coach from a highly accomplished veteran Head Coach as an example and not Brian bleeping Schottenheimer.

It doesn't get any better than this with Jerry. The only hang up is his kids and the salary.

It's what I'm hoping for.

But I still miss Fat Mike.
Pete is not the fit you think he is. He's a West coast guy with a Northwest attitude which is a far departure from North Texas. I can't imagine Pete willfully moving to Texas at his age. He wouldn't be happy.

I would be very happy with Carrol at this point. If we are looking for a placeholder for 2-3 years, he is perfect.
Pete can build a culture. Up seasons or down seasons, his team was never garbage; his team was always tough; his team always played hard for him.

To me, he would be an ideal stepping stone. Rebuild the culture; build the roster. Then bring in a new coach and QB….perfect timing.

Are you nuts? USC was so glitz and glamour back with Bush and company. He’ll fit right in.
