What an idiot,self-righteous,egotistical maniac. To retire 2 times and come back which it looks likely.Sad to see the GB orginization are a bunch of wusses and afraid to move on without this idiot.I hope he comes back and in the second game gets knocked out,so Rodgers who btw has worked his tail off ,plays lights out all season.

Green Bay will be very good this year, with or without Favre. If any Qb they have can just manage the game they should have no problem winning their division

More like Oxycontin and whiskey.

The media has always overlooked his Addiction to Oxycontin when they give praise to Lord Farve.

so what were they supposed to do??? he did get help for it, the media covered it, reported it and after FAvre got self help for it, the media moved on. Favre refused from that point on to even take a drink of alcohol or take any kind of prescribed pain killer. Was the media supposed to beat him up years later for something that he recovered from? I don't understand what you think what more they were supposed to do. For the past 10 yrs, FAvre has been alcohol free and vicodin free. How long do you think somebody should be beaten up for mistakes they corrected?

Irvin still gets beaten up even though he has turned his life around. So why shouldn't Brett?

i don't see where the media still beats up on Irvin about things that happened 15 yrs ago. I do see where fans get on Irvin and give him a hard time. I do believe that Irvin brings some of that from other fans on himself with his public persona. But now when I hear anything negative about Irvin from the media, It has nothing to do with the things that happened in the past.

There is that big word IF. Favre can manage games. I don't think he will put up the big numbers from last year, but he can come in and manage games. Rodgers is an unknown. I personally don't think he can do enough to help Green Bay contend. Plus he gets hurt putting on his socks.

A 3 interception game by Favre would not mean much. Favre has the respect of the Packers. Rodgers does not. A 3 interception game by Rodgers could sink any confidence or respect the team does have in him.

Anytime anything is said about him in the media they mention his past problems. Do they do the same about Farve? Nope

again, I just don't hear that criticism from anybody but other teams fans, not media. Michael is criticized now for the things that he says, not the things that he did. One thing about IRvin is that while Favres demons happened over ten years ago, Irvin has been in trouble with the law as recently as three yrs ago. That was the "that crack pipe is my friends, not mine" problem. And since that time, nothing has been said about it that I remember. Micheal causes his own problems with the media now by his opinions that rub some the wrong way and the criticisms surround that.

I don't see how you equate TO with Irvin and FAvre. TO is a ticking time bomb that is liable to go off when something does not go his way. Wasnt it just two years ago, he was admitted for an attempted suicide.

Favre and Irvin had legal or personal issues they both resolved and have moved on from it. I don't think anybody things that Irvin is going to do cocaine again or Favre is going to do vicodin again. But, I don't think anybody is ready to bet the house that TO doesn't have a melt down again.

No, he had an accidental overdose. That is different than an attempted suicide. That is the point.

accidental overdose (that's his story and he's sticking to it) or attempted suicide puts TOs name in the headlines for potential meltdown, that is the point....

So true.

BTW, his Favre's "rehab" was just down the road about an hour from where Vick is now. And no I didn't go visit him when he was there either. :D

Yeah but that really is not the issue. All teams at some point have to either bite the bullet and go through growing pains with a QB or they prepare for the future and have one waiting in the wings.

Truth is the Packers dont know what they have waiting in the wings. That Favre's fault.

No one believes that TO(of all people) was trying to kill himself. He is too honest and loves himself too much.

Cute "thats his story..."

I hope Favre continues to play for the Pack. He will go out on a sour note. The football gods were nice to him last year... let him go out with a bang of sorts(except when he played in Dallas and NFC title game lol).

He should take that and ride off into sunset.

Get rid of Brad Johnson and Wade Wilson, and bring in Player/Coach Brett Favre.

We'd have to pray Romo never gets hurt because Bretty can't win in Dallas. :laugh1:
