A quarterback goes to his second option with regularity,

Like I said, you have a video game mentality. You're thinking because in your x-box your qb has 5 minutes to throw the ball, that it must be the same in the NFL.

You're clueless, Alicia.

I think you need to remember what you said. But just in case you cant i will remind you. You said Roy isnt quick, cant use his body, and is completely overrated.

So tell us how you know this.

Because I watch him play. His stats are inflated because of the pass-happy system Detroit had for awhile. Heck, Mike "Suck" Furrey even had significantly more receptions than he did one year. I guess Kitna was simply avoiding him too.

Roy is big, has great hands, and is very fast once getting up to speed. He is NOT quick or agile and does not accelerate particularly well. Which is critical to getting open on a consistent basis.

I agree with all of that but think the key point of contention is TO v RW. That seems murkier to me.

Fair enough -- but Romo DOES have a heck of a lot more experience throwing to Owens. And I'm not absolving Owens of anything, I don't think he is getting open nearly as much as he thinks he is either. And he also drops more balls than he would care to admit.

Hard to admit that, but I have to agree with Colin on most issues.

Why? That just means you think Roy is an all-world receiver and you just assume he is getting open with regularity. Many on here disagreed with getting him in the first place, me included.

Roy being completely ineffective is exactly what I (and others) thought was going to happen because I (and others) think he is completely OVERRATED.

And, well, you being a fan that thinks like that is why you sit in the stands and don't get paid the big bucks.

All of that being said, Jason Garrett should still be fired.

Just listened to Cowherd interviewing Peter King on ESPN radio.

He had two interesting things to say. First, Bill Cowher will probably get a lot of interest during the offseason, including from Jerry Jones. Not surprising, but interesting nonetheless.

Second, Cowherd asked him a loaded question about Romo and King used it to talk about Cowboy offensive dysfunction, generally. He talked about how TO is getting way too many looks and said something like Roy Williams is "pissed off as hell" about his limited role. I don't suppose this is surprising either but I was struck by the vehement wording.
Cowherd had Werder on the other day to. He got all rev'd up about TO and the poison he brings blah blah.

I especially thought it was funny when Cowherd talked about TO losing a step. I thought, was that after he outran the Bengals defense?

Let's see...

Roy's "success" rate -- 34 of 74 = 46%

Owen's success rate -- 63 of 130 = 48%

Witten's success rate -- 74 of 110 = 67%

Too funny, you just proved why Romo does look Witten's way more often when in tight situations and when the game is on the line and why he looks Roy's way least often. When he targets Witten, there is a 2 in 3 chance that he'll catch the ball. When he targets Roy, there is less than a 1 in 2 chance that he wind up catching the ball.

Looking at these numbers only tells me one thing -- Owens and especially Roy have absolutely nothing to ***** about.

against Pittsburgh, Roy knitted an entire sweater all alone in the back corner of the endzone before romo through the ball over his head.

against Baltimore, Roy was wide open on a few routes, Romo never looked to his side of the field.

I forget the game where we wen't for the 2 pt conversion, I believe it was the Giants game. At the end they threw a fade route to Roy. Romo through a ball that not even Manute Bol could have touched. I personally feel Bennett would have been the best target in that situation, cause of his size, 6'7, and his leaping ability.

Roy is getting wide open, Romo doesn't throw the ball to him...he waits till Roy is covered or if he does see him, he throws a ball either too short or too tall for Roy to catch it.

I guarantee if any team we played had a WR getting open the way Roy does, we would get used and abused all game long.....

I doubt Roy is POed. But if he were I wouldn't have a problem with it. He can think anything he wants. As long as he doesn't become a distraction thru actions then who cares.

It is troublesome he isn't catching more balls. However, it is a lot more troublesome the offense is tanking again.

I understand Tony is hurt. And the OL is not the same. Still with Romo throwing and Witten, RWR, and TO out there it's hard for me to understand why they all aren't catching more balls. I do agree that if TO is still getting doubled then why isn't RWR getting more balls. Since you can't follow receivers well on TV then perhaps he's getting doubled as well. In that case someone needs to be open. Maybe we aren't as good as we think offensively. I don't really believe that but it has to be one of the possible answers.

Peter King hasn't been right about the Cowboys since before his prediction for the 1993 NFCC game.

You just described TO to a T, well except for the great hands so why does he get so many passes? Because he'll cry like a little ***** if he don't.

Re Roy Williams, I think this WR should make his own opportunities. Especially with a QB who has been under duress, Williams should work himself open early and make the tough catch when it's thrown his way. If Williams continues to do this frequently enough - THEN Romo will be influenced to look his way early and often. God knows TO isn't working through the press coverage. The opportunity is there for Williams but he has to take it.

He's running out of season to make an impact. If he CAN do it - let's start seeing some evidence of this now.

If I was RW id be pissed too. Tony Favre only sees Witten and TO, regardless of how wide open the other receivers are.
