Man, I really can't believe this thread is still going...

Based off reading most of the posts:

Rack wasn't wrong in his criticisms, it was how he said it...
Some feel he should be more sensitive to the family members on the board
Some feel Petitti is doing ok considering, but wish he'd play a little better
Some wish the whole OL would play better
Some wouldn't mind an upgrade next year, if Petitti doesn't show improvement

Did I miss anything, besides the numerous insults against one another?

I love you?

You got some cajones brother. Hitting on a girl who is already taken? And by a certain ex-Cowboy Strong Safety known for his knockout hits.

Plus twenty cool points for you.

I have been critical of the OL play this year and the OTs the most.

Pettiti is a rookie. What do you expect from a rookie? He's playing at a higher level than we have a right to expect from a low round rookie tackle.

Tucker was outta here in training camp. Now he's doing a reasonably good job. Not what we want but a lot better than most expected.

Our probowl RG isn't tearing it up and I'm not real happy with the C either although we are playing fairly well.

This team is playing above the level of it's talent at this point. That's a tribute to coaching and enough good or better players taking up the slack.

It's not time to point fingers but to hope these guys pull it together and win enough to get to the dance.

I hated the loss esp since TNew shoulda taken that "int" to the house. And Cundiff makes that FG 95% of the time. We played the second best team in the NFL as well as u can and still lose.

And it is insensitive to insult a member of the board esp the father of a player.

I hope we all pull together and finish the season well.

When did that happen? I don't recall anyone insulting Pittdawg.

Are you making crap up or did you actually read someone insult him?

You never did. Someone is either jumping into your conversation or can't read.
Who said that in the first place?

i've lost count of how many times i've heard "a pro's biggest progression occurs between the rookie and 2nd year"...

petetti is a rook thrust into a starter's role... just his being a rookie should buy him a pass this year...

ALL our rookies deserve our patience... this ain't a "cup 'o soup" league where you just add water and expect an instant solid-starter... reasonable fans understand that you may invest 2 or 3 years in a young player before you can begin to see the dividends of said investment (look at the leap Brady James has made in his 3rd year...)

Petetti, a rookie, suits up, shows up, and STARTS for crying out loud... that puts him waaaay ahead of the Al Johnson, Jacob Rogers, et al timetable...

it's not the kid's fault the Cowboys were caught with their pants down and NO decent veteran starter at RT.

Having just read all 12 pages of this one, I just want to join with CL on his observation re Rob's weight loss.

It has been my feeling for some weeks the sheer physical toll losing that much weight takes on basic stamina cannot be totally offset even with the best conditioning programs and trainers. Not in the middle of a grueling 16 game regular football season, anyway.

Rob lost what since last spring? 60 pounds? Some muscle mass had to be lost with that rapid an extreme weight reduction. That had to have weakened him some short term, tho it will certainly aid him and us longterm.

Then he had that leg injury in camp...on top of the mental wear and tear of being thrown in to start. Mastering the playbook, trying to function in the unit. Couple these factors with the typical "rookie wall" and I think it's obvious it's been a grueling few weeks for him.

He'll get in the gym under Bill's program this spring and be a much stronger player come summer.

But I think considering what he's accomplished and under what circumstances, we lucked out with this draft pick

I think its very hipocritical to try to lecture Rack for criticizing Petitti with his family being here. I don't see anyone crusading for JJT when we know full well he reads this board. He gets a lot harsher "criticism" too.

I'm not really criticizing Rack for how he went about criticizing Pettiti, but why? when there are other culprits, just wondering why he's solely focusing the brunt of criticizm on him

If you insult my wife you are insulting me. If you insult my son then it's a reflection of me and insulting. If you say Pettiti sucks then you are insulting his father.

You are trying to defend an indefensible position. But go ahead. You can say anything within the rules you like.

"Pettiti sucks" is obnoxious, insensitive and labeling. It is a cognitive distortion as well as a social blunder. If you don't understand that then I'm not going to try and debate that with you.

It wouldn't be the first time you've acted this way on this board.

I'm not a moderator but I'm entitled to my opinion and my opinion is you should not speak as you did. You are capable of expressing your opinion very well and without labeling. You bring up very good points and contribute to this board. Just my opinion but I'm sorry goes a long way.

Do you ask that same question everytime someone criticizes a player? Did you go into the Cundiff threads and say "Why this player, there are other culprits"?

If you insult my wife you are insulting me

OMG. Biggest load of crap I've read here all day.

You mess with me, you mess with my whole family, Vato.

Gimme a f'in break.

I'll remember that the next time you make a post insulting a player.

You are trying to defend an indefensible position

Not only is it defensible, but I did a good job doing it. You're talkin' out your arse now.

1. I suggest you read the whole thread before flapping your gums. What you posted makes no sense as far as what I've posted in this thread.

2. Regarding the bolded part, the reason you won't "Debate" with me is cuz there's nothing to debate.

nope, don't need to in a Cundiff thread, the only culprit in missing a chip-shot is himself, that's unless the snap was poor, or the hold, and I didn't see it as so watching the game, and I know he cost us 3 points, which cost us the game, because we lost by...you guessed it, 3 points! and I know, because it's staring me right in the face

but I do it when a "bash Bledsoe" thread is started, and in this case, a "bash Pettiti" thread, when a couple of his linemates were at fault yesterday as well, which has been the case throughout the year...

Then all "cognitive distortions" and "social blunders" need to go away.

So should opinion.

But only if the relative posts here. If not, carry on. Insult the head coach, the owner, any of the players.

It is okay but only until someone gets personal or until someone puts an eye out.

It was labelling. But so is 99 percent of the opinion around here.

There is a thing called a double standard. I suggest some here look into it. Including moderation.

I don't think that Rack did anything wrong. I think that he used language that he felt explained his point and some may consider it harsh. I think that his comment made on Petitti is far less disheartening than what the media can do to him. They wouldn't use "suck" persay, but they can bash him just as well and you know that the Petitti family would hear about it.

Again, for like the 4th or 5th time, I didn't make this thread cuz of what Petitti did YESTERDAY. I made it cuz of his last 3 or 4 games. So bringing up what the OL did YESTERDAY is irrelevant.

:hammer:

The fact of the matter is if I made a thread called "Tucker Sucks" NO ONE would be complaining about getting "personal" or about any kind of insults whatsoever.

Courtney Brown was actually lined up on him alot too. Pettiti had a bad day. He still is a rookie and should be a backup right now, but he isnt. I would have been perfectly fine if we signed Gragg or McKenzie in the offseason instead of Rivera. But Rogers got hurt and so on. I expect a big overhaul this offseason with Gurode, Rogers and possibly Rivera being let go. We will focus on Oline in the draft and hopefully fire Tony Sparano because we need a new Oline coach too.

Petitti will be one heII of a tackle next year. Give him an off-seson conditioning program, and film study on techniques, and he'll be fine.
