BP was such an idiot he compiled a 41-9 at louisville
Hell, by that standard, why move up from Junior Varsity to Varsity if you're dominating 15 year olds at the JV level?

The NFL is the real challenge. 32 teams, completely fair salary cap and free agency system. Paid professional players who are the VERY best in the world at what they do...

If you have an opportunity to coach at the highest level and you turn it down because you know it will be a tougher job or you're afraid of tainting your rep, I believe that makes you a wuss.

I don't have an ounce of respect for Bobby Petrino... he ran away from the big bad NFL with his tail between his legs. There was time to patch things up. He was going to be given at least another year by Arthur Blank.

He's like that 9th grade bully who tried picking on the other 9th graders, got beat up, so he's back to picking on the Junior High kids like he did the year before.

One guy I kinda feel bad for is Warrick Dunn(if you can feel bad for million dollar athletes). He left Tampa the year before they won the Super Bowl and has been in Atlanta the last however many years, they were semi-decent for a couple seasons but its clearly over now.

He does all that off the field work helping people get houses, and his mother a police officer was killed in duty, and he succeeded despite his smaller size, he always seemed like a stand up guy.

People forget that the Number 1 defense we had in 2003 was basically assembled and ran by Zimmer. He was the guy responsible for that defense, not Parcells.

Smoke and mirrors on defense? I don't think so. They were solid. Not many turnovers, but our defense that year was very solid and allowed the fewest yards in the league. Not to mention the fact that we were the best passing defense that year as well.

The offense that year was smoke and mirrors. The defense was not.

Andy Reid once he is excused from the Eagles.

Geez, I just thought about it and it is possible(even remotely) that 3 teams in the NFC East are looking for coaches next season.

Someone chain up Garrett

I think Coughlin has saved his job. Eli is the one in limbo.

Garrett is a Cowboy in his heart. It's very evident that this is where he wants to be. I've seen numerous quotes about him feeling at home here.

He knows he'll be the head coach of the Cowboys, probably sooner than later. Wade will win a couple Super Bowls and ride off into the sunset.

Yeah, I bet Andy is fond of that Pennsylvania Dutch food and you know he's hanging out in South Philly getting that Italian food and cheesesteaks. I'm sure he could find something to fill his maw anywhere he goes.

That's just wrong of you to use an Avatar of Andy Reid after he's been in Atlanta eating southern fried chicken and southern fried donuts. Pass me a southern fried pickle damn it!

Sort of sounds like Jerry Jones burning through Switzer, then Gailey, then Campo.

It's just going to depend on how bad he wants Atlanta to win, how much money he wants to spend, and how much he wants to fill the stands. Atlanta fans won't go to the games if the product is bad, and Blank knows that.

Jerry didn't burn through Switzer. Switzer was out when the team gave up on him. Gailey and Campo were just so bad that you had to burn through 'em.

:) But honestly, how many good head coaches are there in the NFL? These days, when you have a coaching change, I think things get worst before they get better.

nobody of any quality is going to want to coach for that moron Blank and his idiot sidekick McKay

let alone Garrett

the Falcons are becoming a black hole of the NFL

David

Becoming? The franchise has won 40.% of their games since their inception. They have been a near black hole for a long time.

Jimmy looked awful his first year. When you hire a college coach, even if he will be successful, that first year usually is rough.

Bill Walsh. Successful college coach, had never coached as a pro head coach. What was his first year in SF like?

They need that year or two to get rid of has beens and wanna bes and figure out which end is up.

Just my two cents, but some of these college guys just bail too early. No stomach for it.

I like the idea of Mike Singletary, btw, but Marty can win with a wooden doll at QB. And there is no guarantee that Atlanta will have even a mediocre QB next year. I've seen enough of Harrington to believe he has Drew Henson's disease.

David.

Bill Walsh spent 11 seasons as an offensive assistant coach with the Raiders, Bengals and Chargers. He learned from some pretty notable NFL offensive coaches before he spent two years as head coach at Stanford and then getting the job with San Francisco. I see him as more a guy that climbed the NFL ladder than a college coach that made the jump to the pros like Jimmy Johnson or Petrino.

Herschel Walker pretty much doomed the Vikings.

I disagree. Herschel Walker did not doom the Vikings. The Vikings doomed themselves.

The Vikings were never one player away from winning it all, so the trade for Walker just never made sense. They had Wade Wilson at QB. Good QB, but not a guy that could lead a team to a SB let alone win one. Plus once they got Walker they refused to use him.

Herschel averaged 20.67 touches per game(rushing and receiving) in his first four seasons in Dallas(49 games). Considering he split time with Tony Dorsett his first two seasons that is a pretty high number. In his three seasons(42 games) with the Vikings he averaged 15.17 touches per game. That's just dumb.

"Hey, we are the Vikings and we need a good running back to win, but we are not going to give him the ball." Brilliant strategy.
