Pettiti could improve by 10 times by next year ....... and still not be worthy of playing in the NFL. If Campo would have drafted this guy Parcells wouldn't have even brought him to training camp.

What kills me about Pettiti posts are the same people who says we should give him a break because he's a 6th rounder are the same people who thinks he'll be a great player next year.

I don't undertand what makes these people think a 6th rounder get 1000% better in one off season.

As a Cowboys fans I hope he gets better but I don't think he'll get good enough in one off season to be a good starter. Maybe a backup at best. Maybe few years down the road but the fact is he stinks right now.

I agree with all the people who are saying that it's not his fault that he is starting. It's not. It's the fault of the coaches. But it still doesn't change the fact that he sucks azz right now.

Still waiting on an answer huh?

I wanted the guy to be good.

But he was soooo bad. Once Flow went down and Dallas couldnt help him (RP) out on every play... the O was done for the year.

It's a shame. I bet he cost Witten several million because Jason does not have another pro bowl to use as a negotiating point. Witten, the only guy on O who deserved a pro bowl, had to be taken out of the pasing game because RP couldnt even slow his guy down. I'm not asking him to block his guy well, just slow him down a little... please!

Of course you dip ****s could do so much better. Go back to filling your fat guts w/ beer and beating your wives w/ your remotes. Have your opinion about Rob. that is one thing. Blatantly crapping all over this thread in order to get PittDawg to respond is pathetic. To think our Mods even allowed this thread to continue.

Say what you want about Rob but you really need to step off the dad speak. Half these posts are from punk *** children otw back to school. The other half I had respect for until now.

Nobody said Rob is pro bowl bound. He damn sure will make a good tackle someday. Book that.

Ill take my warnings from mods via PM. Ive done it before. Somebday had to come in here and ask you fools to step off a bit. So...Ill be that one.

G'day ladies.

Rob Pettiti blocked Dwight Freeney(successfully) in college, so was pretty high on him. Rookies never shoot lights out anyways. HOWEVER....

Pettiti has REGRESSED as the season went along. Rookies, of course, SHOULD PROGRESS.

Heh-so I guess this means that Eli is a "bust" too, 'cuz he's slowly REGRESSING. :D

Pettiti wll be back next year as the Back-up RT....He has potential but he is NOT ready to be a starter...

Let's not forget that he IS a SIXTH round pick.....

Horrible as a starter...clearly out of his league at this point...

Don't worry....Parcells will NOT be starting him next year!

Adversity? At the expense of getting Drew Bledsoe killed? Please put down the pipe.

Petitti has had his time. He must go elsewhere, possibly to a high school program.

...up the pipe at all. There is no valid reason for the fact that Parcells hasn't put in a vet off the waiver wire other than he see's something in Pettiti.

The kid may be the best that he has got in the lineup or he wants to give him a chance.

There is no plausible explanation for the fact that Rob has been left in the games after clearly struggling with his opponent. Therefore it has to be one of two things; there is no better option or he wants to see what this kid has. I don't think option one is the case.

Great post. I have been giving Petitti a pass due to the circumstances. He should not even had been in there. He will get better. How much? Who knows. He may not be all that great now I agree. But to rip a guy to shreds as he has been the last month is a bit much. He has been going against some good DE's you know.

G'day ladies.

Could you give us a list of players we can say need to play better? Or does each poster who wants to comment have to be a better NFL player than the person they are talking about?

I have a feeling that there won't be too many posts if the criteria for posting is that you have to be a good NFL player.

This just in... there is going to be more than one post in the next few months indicating that Dallas needs to get better at RT. I would bet that none of those posts will be started by NFL RT's. You might have to learn to live with it.

I believe the pecking order was Rogers...Tucker...then Petitti. We cut guys in preseason that had more experience because we wanted to keep Petitti and groom him. Didn't work out that way and now he gets ripped after each game.

Yep-while Bob Whitfield and Ray Brown are old and 2 steps slower, they have just that-EXPERIENCE. Which is why the Gints and Skins, respectively, didn't miss a beat on their OL when they had guys hurt.

He's alright for a rookie. He'll be a lot better with an entire off-season training regimen under his belt.
an off season regimine is going to help him get quicker off the ball/move his feet quicker/ he is slow with his footwork period! that's part of athletisism something he lacks. I dont see him getting much better here/stronger yes/ but I dont think that's his problem. He is a backup at best. You saw Little laughing last night just licking his chops.

He's a career backup, if that.

It's completely ridiculous to say he will be ten times better next year.

Flip it, it's completely ridiculous to say he's a career backup.

I'm saying what I think. I doubt pittdawg even reads this board anymore. You kissing robs arse isn't impressing anyone either. Him and Tucker (and Kicker) are the sole reason we have nothing to look forward to this january. You go on thinking (hoping) he will all of a sudden get quicker, I will hope my team replaces him so they will improve. I know where my loyalties lie.

Well, I'm not willing to call him a future starter.

Maybe he will prove me wrong, work his arse off and win the starting job instead of having it handed to him. I just hope JJ and BP aren't hoping this will happen and do nothing about RT.

I'm not willing to call him a future starter and I'm not shallow enough to call him a bust.

Recall Mark Tuineau his first year or two?

That position takes time and having said that, you just don't know so I agree, we'll need to do what we can to address it in case things don't work out.

How are some of you so confident he wont be the same next year? He gave up like 16 sacks in 16 games, hardly starter material, let alone backup material. I am afraid RP is another Justin Bates, simply not good enough for the NFL. He struggled in all aspects of his game this year and regressed completlely. If he starts next year expect the same turnstile play for him.

So recognizing our other needs, would you draft a tackle in the first round?

Y' know, I'd love it if Petitti worked hard in the off-season (weights, footwork, all of it) and started all 16 games next year and eventually became a downright dominant RT for Dallas just to quiet all the know-it-all's.

For the LAST TIME, he's a rookie playing a very tough position (physically and mentally) where they usually have several years to learn. He walked in from Day One and did his best. Because he gave up a lot of sacks (which no one would argue) everyone is ready to call im a BUST. Ware had, what?, 8 sacks this year and people are screaming that Dallas shoulda drafted Merriman?

Some people are too hard to please. Petitti WILL be better next year whether he's our starter or not, and Ware will too. When they are, all the HATERS ought to eat some humble pie and admit they over-reacted.
