Peyton Hendershot comments about the Cowboys

Lots of former players say this.

I think the results on the field speak for themselves. Players in Dallas deal with a lot more distractions than those that exist with nearly any other franchise.
True, but those distractions were there as soon as the team starting winning lots of games and lots of playoff games in the 60's. Those 70's teams and the early 90's players played hard and partied harder. The owner of the restaurant I worked at in college in the mid to late 70's was a big partier himself and saw lots of Cowboys players "out and about" in that time. Didn't seem to hurt their getting to SBs and NFC championship games.

And yes, it's different now if for no other reason than everybody has a cell phone in their pocket, but you just have to more discreet these days....

Hello. We are talking about starters who win Super Bowls. Hendershot is still the bench warmer he was when he was here. He shouldn't be talking because he was all suits wearing limelight seeker with Ferguson when he was here, yet never started.
Wrong... you didn't say starters in the Superbowl. It doesn't matter. Hendershot is one of many ex players who point out the culture difference between the Cowboys and their new team. Hendershot was making a point that the KC culture is football and the Cowboys are another. He doesn't have to start to see it. He was there. That's what we are talking about. The culture.

The same culture in Dallas is the same culture that was in place back in the 90s when they were winning 3 Super Bowls. The difference is the coaching and talent on the team.

I'm not saying Hendershot is wrong, because he's not. But what does it say about him that he couldn't see the field on such a terrible team. He was a bench warmer here. P.S.....Peyton, be a man and shut your mouth.
I don't see anything wrong with what he said. Don't knock it. What he said was true!

The problem is the Jones. Jerry hires the coaches and pick the players. The culture in the 90s was set by JJ now its Jerry. Obviously the Cowboys have a culture problem.

No one is defending Jerry. I did not read every posts fully either. But, it is easy to say Things like that if you are on a winning team, and are playing in the SB.

It is like changing employers. You aren’t going to tell your new place, this place sucks compared to where I came from.
I dont know about everyone but i dont think i would want culture tips from a losing team, i would want to mirror a winning franchise...it would be hard to sell me that this TE is upset he isnt in Dallas instead of KC right now...maybe we just believe what the facts tell us..KC is a much better run Franchise than the Cowboys..im pretty sure thats 100% true..

I am not a fan of Jerry, Stephen and McClay at the upper management controls but TE Hendershot didn't exactly make the most of his playing opportunities when he was out on the field as a Cowboy. As far as the Chiefs go some of their key players have no problem with self-promotion and making commercials. Kelce for example has no problem showcasing his celebrity relationship with Taylor Swift who is there during games in their skybox and even on road games. Every team in the league is a hype circus to a varying degree. Are the Cowboys the only organization that has fans and tourists visit their stadiums? Hardly. The NFL also wants media participation such as pre-game and post game interviews and even in between halves and third party entertainment during important games like the playoffs. It's entertainment folks, always has been but there is even more diverse of it these days.

Even gladiators fighting in arenas mega centuries ago indulged in promotions selling their sweat and blood as an elixir. The rulers and slave owners promoted the hell out of gladiatorial combat and set up spectacular fighting scenarios. Hendershot is talking Hendersh!t.

Hendershot you will get fired!

Wait....KC?!

Anyways... Jerry will fire you. He doesnt care.

Winning? WINNING? heck who cares about that. We didnt worked so hard to be able to give that bum of an QB a big contract just to have players now ehat? Trying to win? What the hell are you thinking? Stop that!

You are here to put on a show. Dont these players know that? Idiots.

maybe cowboys fan(guilty)s and media just overrate how good the Cowboys players actually are

maybe its not just about culture, the qb is mentally weak. the defensive line is undersized and under talented. the OL is a tad overhyped. JJ built a defense without any linebackers in 2023. How do you do that? you have one good receiver and the rest are simply solid. there is a reason why this team preys on the weak but usually gets its doors blown off by really good teams outside of Philly(ironically) , they simply may not be good enough. And on top of all that, your team is quite dumb!!

That is exactly the problem with the Cowboys, they think they’re celebrities just because they are on “Americas team”. There’s no way else to say it. Also I’m not sure how you change that culture and there’s really no reason they can’t win even with that attitude. It is what it is, a big market team. The Cowboys are close and in a tough division.

Like mentioned already, the 90s culture was embarrassing (scissorgate, the white house) and that was under Jimmy Johnson. What is different is the coaches and players. They have to overcome the Joneses like those teams did.
