What matter isn't really AAV at all. A lot of AAV is never paid.
What matters is actual cap hit.

The reality of Gallup's deal is he was set get restructured this year as pre-planned.
Then next year with a smaller base they either keep him or move on.
But the team was never paying big cap hits in the first 2 years of this deal.
Not true.

Cut 2023: AAV = 23M
Cut 2024: AAV = 11.5M

Overall contract AAV = 11.5M

Are those number pre June 2nd???

Now do AAV after the deal is done...
Again all that matters is actual cash paid and GTD cash.
The rest is very dependent upon situation.
For most deals that AVV is going to factor in 1 extra year to spread cap hits.

So the AAV doesn't matter much to the player nor the team.
Team cares about cap hit and player cares about guarantee.
Agents do love AAV.
Because they know is usually entails a lot of fake money that drives the market ever higher.

Longer deals give you more levers and lessen cap hits.

Four cheaper guys that boost this team and allows BPA in the draft.

91. DI A'SHAWN ROBINSON, LOS ANGELES RAMS

Contract Projection: One year, $2.5 million; $1.5 million total guaranteed

86. LB AZEEZ AL-SHAAIR, SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

Contract Projection: Two years, $8 million ($4M per year); $4.25 million total guaranteed

Al-Shaair is in line to get paid as a free agent after teammates Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw find themselves among the 16 highest-paid off-ball linebackers in the NFL.

The 49ers applied the second-round restricted free agent tender — at a price tag of $3.986 million — to Al-Shaair for the 2022 season, perhaps illustrating that they feared he would get signed to an offer sheet elsewhere if they went with the right of first refusal tender.

Al-Shaair missed a lot of time in 2022 but earned a career-best 67.8 overall grade and 79.7 run-defense grade. It was his first season missing fewer than 10% of his tackle opportunities, and he put up an 86.8 overall grade with seven tackles and two defensive stops during a strong playoff run.

79. OG WILL HERNANDEZ, ARIZONA CARDINALS

Contract Projection: Three years, $12 million ($4M per year); $6.25 million total guaranteed

Hernandez earned a career-high 79.1 pass-blocking grade in 2022, which ranked tied for eighth among guards. His 3.0% pressure rate allowed ranked 13th at the position, and he held up on true pass sets, as well, ranking top 15 in both metrics. He’s a bit more limited as a run blocker, failing to reach a season-long grade of at least 65.0 over his five-year career, but his above-average pass protection should make him an intriguing target for a handful of clubs.

Hernandez finished the season on injured reserve with a pectoral injury, but there are no indications he’ll miss time in 2023 as a result. The former No. 34 overall pick signed a minimum contract for 2022 but should be able to boost that a bit going forward.

22. CB CAMERON SUTTON, PITTSBURGH STEELERS

Contract Projection: Three years, $25.5 million (8.5M per year); $15.5 million total guaranteed

Sutton quietly continued to excel in a Pittsburgh coverage unit that was otherwise very exploitable this season, with 2022 being just his second season as a full-time starter on the outside. Sutton signed a two-year, $9 million deal in 2021 that he outplayed in 2022, earning a 71.0 coverage grade and allowing just 411 receiving yards — the ninth fewest among cornerbacks with at least 400 coverage snaps on the season.

Sutton’s versatility as a defensive back who can still line up in the slot when called upon provides added value for interested teams, as well.

It looks like they got all the RBs with the same projected contract.

12. RB SAQUON BARKLEY, NEW YORK GIANTS

Contract Projection: One year, $10.09 million; fully guaranteed

I love Pollard but I'd take S. Barkley over him if the cost is the same.

I would put the transition tag on Pollard. Let a team offer him. If we dont match we get a pick out of the deal. And it costs 2 million less.

It would be shrewd business so I don't expect our FO to do it. But that is what I would do.
You're gonna risk not having a quality starting back for 2mil?

No thanks.

Hernandez looks like a good deal if we don't bring Tyron back. Probably a decent deal as our #1 interior oline backup if he can also play C.

Honestly, I'm not sure Will Hernandez is an upgrade over bringing McGovern back.

I don’t disagree. But I believe McGovern will cost more. Look what Connor Williams received after being average with us.

Hernandez will be 28 coming off a torn pec. He had little to no market last year as well

They are basically saying they are going to get tagged and that is why the cost is the same.

Give me the 2 defenders and if Pollard isn't too much. The rest of them are JAGs.
