Farniok has an excuse. He is inexperienced and faced real competition for the first time. The rest of them are veterans and were awful.

I am a little surprised by Hill's grade. I thought he did okay but 81 is pretty good for him.

Just curious, how did the rate LVE and Anthony Barr?

Farniok played well for being in that situation.

He just needs more snaps.

he’s gonna get them soon.

Individual.

I had them ranked:

1. Tyler Biadaz
2. Steele
3. Zach Martin
4. Tyler Smith
5. Farniok

Just based on play, not penalties.

They graded them this way and obviously penalties factored in. Not surprising scores considering the offense couldn't do anything.

1. Tyler Biadeaz. 68
2. Zach Martin. 67.2
3. Tyler Smith. 62.5
4. Steele. 58.9
5. farniok. 48.7

But nobody graded over 70.

90-100 = all pro level
80-89 = pro bowl
70-79 =. solid game / above NFL average play
60-69 = NFL average

Anything below 60 is pretty much saying your play hurt the team.

Appreciate the post but PFF has demonstrated it sucks for a long time.

Ok, i won't argue with those grades factoring in Penalties. I would argue both Tb and Martin were over 70 though.

He played well in coverage, in particular. I don't put a lot of stock in the total tackles raw stat b/c it doesn't tell you whether the tackle was made near the LOS or 11 yards down field. Jaylon Smith taught me that one. The guy used to lead us in tackles every season....... he was just making them too far down the field bc he was avoiding contact at the LOS. I think LVE may have some of that in him protecting his neck. His grade against the run wasn't good.

LVE's ability to take on and shed blocks was questionable coming out of college, and when I watched him at it he didn't look good. And for run support, one of their big runs up the middle was LVE just picking wrong and failing to fill the right gap.

Good open field tackle and good in coverage, but not strong at the point of attack and tends go get lost in the wash.

Too bad he has never shown a knack for a pass rush, but I'll take a good coverage LB who can make open field tackles.

I agree. There is definitely a spot for him on this defense in this pass happy league. He's just not who we thought he was as a rookie. I don't think he'll ever live up to the hype he created with that great rookie season. Defense still needs a true middle linebacker.

LVE working on Comeback Player of the Year.

Led the team in tackles. In some thread accepting nominees for different awards for players, I nominated LVE for Breakout Player. After one game, he's right up there with another of my nominees, Noah Brown.

Two *good* offseason contracts.

LVE is the team's leading tackler.
LVE has NO instinct’s vs the run. He always reacts after the play starts. He never anticipates successfully where the ball is going. He’s like Jaylon Smith was. He reacts just fast enough to make the tackle 7-15 yards past the LOS. This type LBer does not help your team win!!!

He did as a rookie. I think he's now protecting his neck to prolong his career. He has no interest in taking on linemen. But, unlike Jaylon who is now out of football, LVE is good enough against the pass to keep around. Every team needs a linebacker who can cover TE's.
