PFF Top 10 QB’s: Dak at 6 (Updated with source)

lol come on man...
This is the type of thing that drives me crazy.
Dak was ranked 1st STILL entering week 6.
And Dallas played the BEST pass defense in football week 1. The Rams

Yes, they ALSO played some bum pass defenses but neglecting to mention those two facts is just intellectually dishonest.

None of us know if Dak would have remained 1st but it's certainly fair to think he might have faded to 2nd or 3rd by regular season's end.
But arguing that with some shady context that precludes massive facts is just not it.
However, he also missed a lot of games very very bad football teams where he might have easily shined.
As it was the games Dallas lost to CLE/SEA/LAR were all versus teams that won 10 or more games last year.
Well, I never argued with anyone where he would end up total yards-wise....except it would be a huge reach to assume he continued that same pace.

I'll just leave you with this

Dallas had 11 games remaining and only 1 game was vs a team with a bottom 10 pass defense. .
On the other hand, several of those games would be vs the top pass defenses.
#2 Washington--twice
#3 Pittsburgh
#6 Baltimore

The worst pass D remaining--and the only in bottom 10--was 25th ranked Minnesota.

Like I said, they feasted on 3 of the worst pass D's in their first 5 games....including #32 and #31. Yes, the #1 Rams are offset by the #32 Falcons. But #31 Seattle and Cleveland pass D's were bad too. Giants were medium.

Not sure why my logic would "drive you crazy"
but it's sure not worth arguing if you don't agree.
From our long experience in posting, you are not someone who ever changes his mind, regardless of what is presented..

I think we both anticipate a big year for Dak, so at least we agree on that.

I always liked Ellie Mae. Sweet, fun country girl and her dad was loaded.

Exactly. This is going to take a little more time then just a snap decision. Best we noodle on this one, maybe over a couple cases of beer. Lets make a plan to get back to this, say....... after the 4th of July weekend?

Sounds good.

Dak averaged 92 yards per game passing more than the eventual leader DeShaun Watson. That's insane. His PPG game number was 1st by a mile ahead of the 316 Pat Mahomes put up. It was a record a record pace.

But again there is simply no reason to ever try and post a one-sided nonsensical argument 'well he played 3 bad pass defenses' while ignoring he actually faced 5 teams and one of those was the best pass defense in football.

The actual ranking of pass defenses he faced.

weeks:
1. ranked 1st
2. ranked 32nd
3. ranked 31st
4. ranked 22nd
5. ranked 17th

That is an average opponent rating of 20. League Average is 16.5....

Anyone trying to pretend Dak's passing and scoring last year weren't extraordinary is mentally impaired.
And ignoring that to pretend he's not in the most coveted demographic/group of QBs just after Mahomes would be even sillier.
But here we are with a fan-base that is largely stupid as sin willfully applauding each others most hilariously bad takes because they have been wrong about Dak for 5 years now and can't stand it.

You turned this into a different debate.

My original post simply said that I thought no way Dak could keep up the same pace the rest of the year that he had the first 5 games.
I did NOT say he didn't play well.
Not at all.

Look it's really basic stuff, and I'm not sure how we are even debating this.

The pass defenses:

First 5 games: average rank was 20.6
Next 11 games: average rank was 10.7

That is a MASSIVE difference.

I mean, the pass defenses, on average were almost twice as tough the rest of the way.
Of course, Dak, (or Rodgers or Mahomes) would see his stats drop off.

I don't even see what the debate is. 20.6 ranking for 5 games is WAY easier than 10.7 average ranking for 11 games.
It's not an insult to Dak, it's just the numbers.

I never said Dak didn't play his butt off the first 5 games, just that his numbers would not stay on that pace going forward.

My comments are not based on emotion and not calling anyone names here. To me, it was just common sense.
