DQ will try to sign LVE to his new team when he leaves. Just like how he signed Kazee and Neal when he came to Dallas.

Hmm...

LVE led the team in tackles (9) last week during the playoff game at Tampa Bay. He also had 2 passes defensed. LVE also finished 3rd in total team tackles (54) besides missing several games late in the season due to injury (shoulder/neck stinger). LVE was leading the team in tackles prior to suffering a late season stinger. Additionally, he owns a 70.8 player grade from Pro Football Focus, and his commanding presence has allowed Micah Parsons to embrace a full-time role as a pass rusher, and done a lot to paper over Barr’s deficiencies as an aging linebacker.

Certainly sounds better than just a serviceable LB.
The key portion of what you typed is "missing several games" "due to a stinger".
He is at risk for those every single tackle.
He was playing cheap this year for a reason.

He absolutely played well and I'd love to get that again.

I would've signed him to longer than one year but i'm pretty sure he wanted to bet on himself one more year. It was only natural he was gonna be better year 2 under Quinn.

We still need to shore up that RCB starting role, imo

- i think we need two off ball LBs if we are gonna keep Parsons at DE. i'm for upgrading over both LVE and Barr.
although more so i think we need to seriously consider Parson more at off ball LB than DE role he's really playing (and taking a toll wear at) now.

- We were already trying to upgrade over Anthony Brown with the draftees Joseph and Wright, and those clearly have the look of bust picks at this point.
And Bland looks maybe to be stiff competition at the slot/3rd CB role vs Jourdan Lewis than an outside RCB replacement .

- Good luck on finding an impact, elite 3 tech, - incredibly hard to find, imo .
Hankins trade definitely helps at the 1 tech, totally heads and shoulder vs Bohanna whose a JAG.-
Hankins is due to be FA this offseason, but .it's quite likely the team will try to extend him.to a 2 year deal.

Offense:
LG, WR RB TE

Defense:
DL, CB, LB,
I agree on the LCB. Brown would work again. TE we are stacked unless Shultz leaves. If Shultz leaves then we have problems with pass catchers for sure. WR not as important if Shultz stays. Need a 3rd WR.

Best case for Dallas is Payton to Denver.
Then other jobs fill before we get knocked out of the playoffs.

If we want to win a championship then we need to complete this defense. Lavonte David would go a long way to shoring up the run defense. That guy is amazing. LVE is a jag, but would be the cheaper option. We need a legit MLB and a legit stud DT to complete this defense.

On offense we need new RB's and sure up the Oline.
Just can't see the Joneses doing it. They have brought in some outside veterans this year, but they've still been on the cheap side either because they are on the downside of their career or were coming off injury. I think re-signing LVE fits more within their modus operandi (cheaper and homegrown).

The biggest "if"...health.

If he can stay on the field, absolutely try and keep LVE.

I worry we give him a 3 year deal and something goes "pop" in his neck/back.
Heath is definitely a concern, so it would depend on the deal. Don't know if Clark and Cox could mitigate that concern some because we haven't seen Cox step up yet. However, as younger players, the two of them and Harper might give us some insurance. If not, I could see the team grabbing a vet like Barr again to fill the void.

We aren't signing Levonte David of course, but what an incredible improvement to our defense he would make. With David, we would actually be as good as we think we are...

Not with me.

We are desperately needing WRs that prove they can separate.

- Cowboys will likely gamble that Gallup will regain his previous form after a full offseason program but it's very risky to bypass an offseason
and NFL draft to automatically think that will happen.
Is it a guarantee that Gallup returns anew ?

- The feeling vibe I get is they will not only seek out a 3rd WR, but they will coveted a 3rd WR that can easily be a No.2 WR.
That's what they thought they would be getting with 2nd rd. rookie bust Jalen Tolbert.

- Dunno if how much was it mentally, competitively or physically with the rookie Tolbert but he gain zero confidence and was completely shelved
with this team- this year
And i'm certainly not for bypassing an available WR for the sake of Tolbert.

- We clearly saw how the James Washington signing was a complete wash out.

- Are we done hearing about the Odell Beckham signing with the Cowboys rumors for sure ?

- Dunno what will become of the TY Hilton future with this team.
Maybe another 1 year deal or depends upon other WR moves in offseason.

A lot of people are acting like NFL contracts are guaranteed in this thread. LVE can be (rather easily) signed to a 3/4 year deal with minimal risk. Look at the Booby Wagner deal to the Rams last year- 5 years 50 million…but only 20 million was guaranteed.

Just a guess, but something like 3/24 with 12 million guaranteed sounds like a very reasonable risk to take to keep our very solid starting MLB. If he gets hurt/is ineffective you’re only eating 4 mil after the 1st year
