Another black athlete complaining about racism. Pathetic. Take a look at your knees Daunte, take a look at your cancer image. These black players and people for matter need to stop using the race card a crutch, no other race uses it.

Wow. Just wow.

On one hand, I feel bad for him, if he's legitimately after a job.

OTOH, the guy's bashing a league that's paid him something like $20M. If he takes the vet minimum and can prove that he's still got something, he'll get his $.

100 % ?? Really?

Maybe when all the kickers, punters, and quarterbacks are black then it will be 100%

WR's, OL, LB's, S, DL

really that just a ******** statement.

Is most of the NFL black yes, but its not even close to 100% more around the 70-75%

The race thing must have passed my by, I didn't see any mention of that in there.

What I did see is a guy who thinks a couple of great years should outweigh the more recent couple of injury ravaged zero production years.

He should take the vet minimum for a year and prove hiself as a backup if the chance presents itself.

As for those who feel even the slightest bit sorry for him, if I had completed the first few years of a 10 year $109M contract I'd be sitting pretty f-ing pretty right now. There were no gaurantees after the first couple of years? cry me a river... there are no gaurantees for anyone outside of football either.

It's "Strange" he puts this letter out AFTER training camp and preseason is over.

My opinion:

1. He didn't want to actually have to go through a training camp. Either cuz he's lazy or he didn't think his knee would handle it.

2. He didn't want to risk stinking it up in a preseason game and end up getting cut and worsening his chance at ever making another NFL roster.

3. He just wants some sucker to sign him as a backup so he can get a paycheck this year, w/o actually having to earn it.

4. If we sign him, I'll snap Jerry's legs like toothpicks.

Or he actually thought some team would sign him before the season was so close to starting and a open letter that basically admits he's getting no interest was a last resort.

I think his only fault is pride, and all NFL players (not to mention one time stars) have that.

Dude... that's not cool. I'm not saying that the "race card" has never been abused, but this is not an example of that. He never referred to race, and it wasn't even insinuated IMO. An example of finding what you're looking for, I suspect.
And, if he were referring to race, how on earth would you know, from your living room, that his references weren't accurate? You realize that racism isn't a myth, right? :bang2:

When I first read it, I thought he was referring to Brad Childress and how things ended badly in Minny. That's just me, tho. I don't typically jump to racial issues.

I thought he was saying it pointed to teams thinking he was washed up and couldn't play anymore. And that he didn't want to embrace that opinion at the present. He could have been hinting at race, but I didn't take it that way.

Why was I not given the chance to compete for a job? This is my question to the NFL. The answer seems to point to something that I choose not to embrace at this time.
this is where he says teams are biased against him. call it whatever you want: bias, racism, prejudice

This is not a race issue and I don't think Daunte is saying it is. He needs to get a clue and understand that at this point a back-up position paying the vet minimum is the best he is gonna get no matter how many letters he writes.

I am white as the driven snow, I am so white I eat mayonnaise sandwiches with a side of mayo. I got zero racial tone in it, zero. I think some people are putting something into it that isn't there.

Or maybe he's talking about the fact that his career is done? Or maybe that his knees are too damaged for him to play?

Assuming racism is just ludicrous and shows how you think

U r white. I thought you were stealthy. My bad.

He isn't complaining about race at all. He's upset about not being able to represent himself. He needs to get an agent he TRUSTS and then play when a team offers him a position. The longer he's out of it the less chance he has to get back. If Vinnie can play in this league so can he. He's just got to realize teams are going to take advantage of the situation and pay him the league miniumum. If he gets enough of a teams interest in him then he'll earn more respect and loyalty which equals dollars.

He's an injured QB, eroding skills looking to get paid "big" money.

Race is not an issue at all - its his ego getting in the way of signing a vet min contract with incentives.

I never said racism is a myth, but you think that he isn't playing because the teams are racist? Last time I checked, Minnesota and Oakland has a black QB replacing him as we speak.

And you don't see Muslims complaining in interviews how 90% of Americans think every Islamic person is a terrorists, and you don't see Asians whining about how everyone says they drive bad, grow some tougher skin, thats all I am saying, and Daunte and many other black athletes for that matter need tougher skin.

A Cincinnati radio host was fired because he said TJ Houzyamoma was a racist when reports surfaced that TJ called him a "punk *** white boy" Bernard Hopkins can say that he "wont lose to a white boy" before a boxing fight, yet if a white said "I cant lose to a black guy" before a fight he would be called a racist, and those ****** bags in Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would call for a public execution.

It's pathetic and I am sick and tired of this double standard. If anyone is offended, I'm sorry, but that is the beauty of freedom of speech.

Why was I not given the chance to compete for a job? This is my question to the NFL. The answer seems to point to something that I choose not to embrace at this time. So instead, I will continue to believe for the best and prepare for the worst.

I think that this can definitely be interpreted as Daunte intimating racism.

What a cry baby! What in the wide world of sports is he talking about?

Does the NFL have to give this has been a try out? Duante you suck and you think too much of yourself.

Wow. Amazing. He has put up numbers better than all but 4 current QBs in today's game for a single season and this era is the best of all time for QBs.

He's better than what they have in San Fran right now. Better than Richard Bartel, too. He's better than Peyton and Eli's backups too. Same goes for Carson Palmer's backups. The list goes on.

What exactly do you have against him?

This idea needs to be put to rest. Race was never referenced or mentioned in Daunte's text but you feel the need to take it all the way out of bounds and into this BS territory.

Thanks.
