PFT: 'Boys eyeing Javon Walker

So Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants to put some "wow" into the offense? One possibility we're hearing about is by acquiring receiver Javon Walker from the Broncos.
A league source tells us that the Cowboys are working on a deal that would bring Walker to Big D. The problem, however, is Walker's knee. He tore an ACL during the first game of the 2005 regular-season, and he missed plenty of time in 2007, his second year in Denver, due to lingering problems with it.
There's a chance, said the source, that Walker wouldn't pass a physical.
If Walker were to land in Dallas, however, things could get interesting. Said the source: "Can you picture [Terrell] Owens' reaction? Walker has pissed people off in Green Bay and Denver because he wants the ball so much. They are supposedly friends so I'm sure they think it could work but it would be fun to watch."
Owens and Walker made plenty of headlines three years ago in their efforts to get new contracts. Both threatened to hold out and, in the end, both caved.
Walker was traded to Denver in April 2006, and received the new contract he craved. After a solid first season with the Broncos, the team picked up an option for 2007. In hindsight, it's yet another poor decision from Denver's de facto G.M.

He is going to get released. Why would anyone trade for him?

OF course unless there are already multiple teams working a trade for him.

For the umpteenth time I will say no thanks.

I don't get this one. When healthy he is a heck of a player. But he is going to be 30 in October and his knee is not a 100%. Plus, he is going to want big money.

I'd rather hang on to the 30 something reciever we have on the roaster with knee problems, Terry Glenn.

Javon Walker dosent WOW me at all. The guy is damaged goods. We already have one WR with a knee condition. We need to draft a young WR.

That's what I've been thinking Theebs... why not just wait for his release?

Now if there are enough teams interested and Walker is willing to renegotiate his current contract, then I could see us giving a later round pick for him, just to keep him off the open market. Sort of like we did for Terry Glenn.

Anything much more than a late round pick though, and I'd wonder why not wait until he's released.

My god I thought this was going to be about Javon Kearse. I would have had a heart attack.

I think this does make sense from one angle and really one angle alone.

If Jerry is serious about Terry Glenn coming back, and if he's serious about some of the young wide receivers developing, it's still hard for me to imagine Dallas being ready to put all of their eggs in that basket. There are a lot of question marks there...

Maybe it makes sense to some in the organization to hedge their bets by having several different options, all of whom can help in some way?

The reason why I don't completely get it is because it seems to me like you would be adding another question mark, albeit a very talented one. Just trying to possibly see it Dallas' way, if this is true.

and he's going to get released. i don't get the trade unless the broncos are giving him up for next to nothing.

I don't see why dallas would make that move. They already have a kneeless receiver on the team.

I'd like to see this credible site/source who is reporting this to the PFT. I do not believe there is any chance Dallas is working a trade deal, and giving up anything, for Walker unless it's nothing more than a 5th or 6th rounder.

He Wow's me.....

"Wow... what the heck are you thinking Jerry?!?!"

I'm for it, as long as the contract is favorable. A cheaper version of the TO contract would be great.

Buy low.

What a dumb move this would be. Par for the course for Jerry.

Funny that everyone says that about Walker, but not about Thomas.

I think it's the type of injury that makes it different - at least for me.

A receiver with a bad wheel scares me more than a linebacker with a concussion does.

If he might be healthy, this could be a cheap pickup akin to what we did with Terry, which worked like a charm. I don't know how bad his knee is, but he's very productive when healthy. I wouldn't turn him away. ;)
