With all due respect, Jerry sang the same song about Wayne Mcgarrity (sp?), Randal Williams, Skyler Green, the kid from Sacred Heart. The list goes on and on with young guys that Jerry was high on.

At this point I take all that jibberish with a grain of salt.

Once a guy is signed, I always hope for the best.

You just never know about those head injuries. Even if Zach has been healthy for the bulk of his career, he's a little older now. Which, to me, means, that another concussion, even a mild one, would take that much longer for him to get over. Leadership, which is always a plus, doesn't mean much, if he can't get on the field.

That's true.

And I'm sure it will be the determining factor as to whether this was a good move or a bad one.

If he stays healthy, the team gets great experience, leadership, and an upgrade over Ayodele.

If he doesn't, it was ultimitely a bad move.

That's how I see it anyway.

I would rather see the Boys try to sign Stallworth or Muhammed than go after Walker. There's not guarantees with an already bum knee. IMO, Stallworth is currently the best WR FA out there.

See, these are guys that I think cannot be #1 or even very high quality #2 receivers, yet they will cost a bundle to sign in the market.

Muhammad? Guy is old and now slow, he isn't the vertical threat the team needs opposite TO. Crayton is just as good as him now imo.

IF key word IF Walker can pass a physical, I'd give up a 5-6th round pick for him why not.

He is going to get released. Why would anyone trade for him?

OF course unless there are already multiple teams working a trade for him.

For the umpteenth time I will say no thanks.

it probably would be less expensive to give him a contract if you trade for him, as opposed to bidding for him

Walker must be garnering some serious interest for us to be thinking about trading for him

A Broncos fan told me the speculation from the radio was that they were talking about a second day pick, 5th rounder.

good point. people get caught up in their being the best FA out there but lose sight of the FA class being pretty weak here. if the FA crowd were worth a flip there'd not be rumors abound for trades and even real ones for players like walker.

So Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants to put some "wow" into the offense? One possibility we're hearing about is by acquiring receiver Javon Walker from the Broncos.

A league source tells us that the Cowboys are working on a deal that would bring Walker to Big D. The problem, however, is Walker's knee. He tore an ACL during the first game of the 2005 regular-season, and he missed plenty of time in 2007, his second year in Denver, due to lingering problems with it.
There's a chance, said the source, that Walker wouldn't pass a physical.
If Walker were to land in Dallas, however, things could get interesting. Said the source: "Can you picture [Terrell] Owens' reaction? Walker has pissed people off in Green Bay and Denver because he wants the ball so much. They are supposedly friends so I'm sure they think it could work but it would be fun to watch."
Owens and Walker made plenty of headlines three years ago in their efforts to get new contracts. Both threatened to hold out and, in the end, both caved.
Walker was traded to Denver in April 2006, and received the new contract he craved. After a solid first season with the Broncos, the team picked up an option for 2007. In hindsight, it's yet another poor decision from Denver's de facto G.M.

Javon Walker = Serious Headcase

He was a bit odd & unstable in Green Bay, but sadly, since Bronco teammate & Forth Worth native Darrent Williams' death, Walker has understandedly not "gotten his head right with ball."

I say stay away Mr. Jones.

I wouldn't use William's death as an excuse, but it seemed to me that Walker kind of seemed like a man without a country after Darrent's murder.

I'm not an advocate of trading for the guy. But, at the right price we might find that what he needs is a change of scenery.

I would be all over signing him to a TO type of deal that has annual roster bonuses to keep him on his toes.

Play great, and we pick up your bonus . No problem. Turn into a knuckle head or an injury case and it's hasta lavista.

Its really not a bad move, even if Jacobs turns Zach into a vegtable on openning day, so to speak.

$1 mill signing bonus and $1 mill base salary is CHEAP. If he can give us anything it will be a positive. Very little risk on our end.
