Is this not the definitive closing the door after the fox is in the chicken coop?

Is good coaching preventing problems or fixing them?

Exactly, and hopefully, we will be able to go further this season. I'd love to finally see the Cowboys in an NFCC game, or even in the SB.
If the Cowboys play the Giants in the 2nd round like the Eagles they definitely make the championship game. Instead they played the Niners on the road and lost. A lot of this is chance. Niners are the better team. They were the last two years.

Impulse throws and throwing into double coverage. Hoping McCarthy can tailor the game plans to reduce his mistakes.

I suggest a thorough eye exam, the number of times he threw directly to the defender for the INT was too many.

Not sure why we act like Dak has been an INT machine his whole career, last year is obviously an outlier when looking at his overall interceptions. Just like 2021 he had fumble-itis that was corrected the next year.

Yes, there has to be a dive into what occurred last year. But acting like the dudes accuracy is the reason he threw all those picks makes zero sense lol. We’re saying he suddenly just got worse at interceptions because his accuracy fell off a cliff?

Logical and many times more likely factors for the increase in interceptions are:

1. Drop off in WR talent/separation (many WR separation stats have us amongst the bottom in the league).
2. Drop off in pass protection (many pass pro metrics have us in the bottom third).
3. Increase in aggressive passing game (the rise in option pass calls downfield despite the TO’s that came with it and Mike’s statements on Moore’s departure show this was an issue).
4. Dak trying to do more than in the past due to the need to make up for Cooper and OL pass pro regression.

At the end of the day Dak is good but not elite. Can’t ask him to makeup for all those offensive regressions while being more aggressive on top of that, though you’d like a bit more cleanliness from a 7 year vet. And before the “but we pay him like he’s elite” thing, please get over the fact that non-elite QB’s get paid elite money due to market and scarcity. We get it, that’s not how it should be logically, but it is what it is. Anyone who’s 15th or better (see Daniel Jones) gets top of the market $$. Simple as that.
not just that, but "leading the league" is so overblown. 15 is the lowest total to lead the league in like 20+ years

Doesn't take a genius to figure it out....two things. His scatter arm which throws buck shots, and he stares down his receiver. Both allow DBs to make plays on the ball. This is his 8th freaking year.....FIX IT......
Guess who is 8th ALLTIME in completion pct
Bet you can’t guess

Oh definitely, but I'd still like to see us get over the hump finally haha

Its not rocket science. Its the Niners at this point. Lost to them twice. First year it was mostly the defense and particularly the run defense. We seemed to get much better at that last year. But then the problem was the Oline, Zeke, Dak and weapons. Basically the offense.

Fix the Oline and get a better run game and Dak should fall into place and we have a much better shot to beat the Niners.

Niners are getting better, however.

Did they ever talk about how great Dak was in years past with not throwing a lot of picks? Never!!

Typical troll logic.

Dak!!!

Yah, but that stat doenst count. All that matter is pick stats and the Niners game.
The miners name was bad. But for his career Dak hasn’t thrown many ints. He also has the 10th lowest int%
He certainly struggled in the Niners game and I think MM has the right idea to fix it. Added another weapon so you don’t feel like you have to throw in tight windows. Cook is gonna be a blessing for lamb. I’d like to see pollard more in the passing game and get back to using the TE more.

He did it in 12 starts. 17 picks in 12 starts. Lead the league even though he missed almost 1/3 of the season. You can't hand wave that away.

It was clearly a game we could have won if not for a few crtical mistakes kn our part. Im disappointed about THAT....not that we lost.

I didn’t hand wave it away, I said it’s overblown. The picks are a problem. several of them were inexcusable and very consequential. the volume isn’t as egregious as it’s made out to be though. just from a quick google / comparison brees and peyton had seasons with a worse per game int avg. It’s just a weak talking point when practically everyone acknowledges it’s an issue

Considering Romo never led the NFL in interceptions in a season where he missed a single game (not 5 like Dak did this year), it couldn't hurt. (He did tie Drew Brees for most in the NFC once while playing all 16 games).

That was meant to mean this - stop going back to Romo, he hasn't been the QB in 9 years.
he led the league in 2012 when him and luck each had 19 and second to Eli in 2007 with 20. Tony was famous for throwing dumas picks. That said its not been a consistant theme with dak and I dont see it happening this year. The reason romo gets brought up so often as rebuttal because mostly same people who bash dak gave romo a pass for the things they bash dak for coming up short.. Mostly the same people who like dak couldnt stand romo it is what it is.

It wont stop until daks gone.

Would be interesting to also note how many games romo won. Not by run game or defense. By him. He has an excellent 4th gtr comebacks and game winning drives. I can source that but pretty sure you arent interested.;):)

I think that could be considered detrime tal. I think hes usually very concerned about him turning the ball over. It does limit the offense a lil bit. Serves him well when the run game is working.

So km tries to make him more gun slinger. Less run. More ints.
