In other words overpay Osa, Rico, Lewis, Lawrence, and sign a bunch of low level free agents or guys that once had a name but coming off big injury to one year deals. Then signing Parsons to the the largest deal for a defensive player in NFL history, thereby Solidifying a future of continued mediocrity.

Just me, but I can't see them resigning Osa ($17-20M ) AND drafting DT with 12. In other words, take DT off your board at 12 if Osa resigns, especially since Eberflus says he likes Mazi's potential.

Osa is one of the top free agents. I suspect that Nick Bolton is a guy that they are interested in.

They should've re-signed Osa last year for sure. Rico though, what has he proven? Spent a couple of years behind Zeke and Tony, flashed a couple of times, but nothing spectacular. He's a nice back to have in the stable, but I'm not convinced. He put up some decent numbers, had a surprisingly good second half of this year, but he isn't a threat. Defenses don't fear him breaking a big run. He didn't do much in the redzone. 2 rushing TDs vs 6 from Pollard the previous year and 12 from Zeke in 2022. In 2023 he had 89 Rushes, 361 yards, 2 TDs, 4.1ypc. He's a solid #2 back that can fill in as #1, but he isn't the game changer that this offense needs. I'd like to see him back next season but this FO is crazy if they give him starter money.

Something about Osa just makes me not a believer in the guy.

He’s too inconsistent IMO and fizzles out by the end of the year IMO.

Jones have no one to blame but themselves, they have to resign Osa; there is literally zero depth here

I doubt Osa would of taken 16.5mil last year, nor would the Cowboys offered it.
Going into his contract year his advanced stats were very similar to this year. Pressures, pass rushing rates etc...
So, it's a risk of course, but he had no reason to sign a deal unless it was an overpayment.

Welp, guess that means no DT in the early rounds if they get a deal done with Osa. Unfortunate since this draft is full of DTs who project as eventually starters in the League.

I'll be curious to see who performs better on their new contract, Osa or M. Williams FA DT from the Eagles. I think Williams has the higher upside.

Maybe, but Nolen was one of the first leaks of guys they talked too. There is plenty of room for both. Teams run 2 DT's out of B gaps most of the time, and Mazi isnt a B gap guy. So you could be looking at Osa and a guy like Nolan or Harmon both getting 60% of the snaps with Mazi playing when they want to run an A gap player
