First of all, we were household names way before Jerry ever got here and we never needed Hard Knocks to do it then. We are, by far, the most watched, most publicised, most accessable, highest rated, highest selling, highest merchandised team in the NFL. We get more televised games then anybody else because the interest is already there. Hard Knocks is not going to change that one way or the other. What it will do is distract from what is important in Training Camp IMO. Training Camp is for players, especially young players, to get things down. It is hard enough for players to stay focused during training camp. I don't think this is going to help that cause in any way. If young players don't get it down in training camp, they don't get it down. That means that they pretty much have to wait till next year because once you get into the season, there is no time to go back and spend the necessary coaching time to get players up to speed on what they've missed. Just doesn't work that way. This year is a very big year for us in terms of rookies contributing and playing a big role in our plans. DBs and RBs, young WRs and development of a guy like Bartell, IMO, are going to be made or broken in this training camp. We don't need this. Yeah, this is all about what fans want to see but come December and January, I've got that sneaking feeling that fans will be more interested in the Cowboys if they are playing for a Super Bowl as opposed to Hard Knocks. JMO but I'm pretty sure it's an accurate one.
If you choose to believe that Jerry was running everything when BP was here, that's fine. I do not believe that. Too many things that we never did before changed when BP got here. Too many things have changed back since BP left. No chance that anybody is ever going to convince me that Jerry was running the show 100%, top to bottom, when BP was here.
