This team was betting that Bailey wouldn't get it back together and we would be better off with someone else. Lost that bet. Hey, we could sign that guy who missed 4 field goals and got cut. He's available.
:lmao2:

* I'm actually kinda' groovin' to news of the threads OP,,, strangelyo_O

Go back to around page 350 of this board and see how much people wanted to keep Bailey. :muttley:

I hope he's back to what he was, but Minnesota had so much confidence in him this training camp that they traded a 5th round pick to Baltimore for a rookie kicker. They ended up cutting the rookie, but Bailey wasn't even a lock to make their roster.

My issue is less about cutting Bailey and more about settling for Maher.

Just wait until he kicks a 50 yarder to beat us in a few weeks. That will, of course, come after Maher misses a potential go-ahead kick at some point late in the game. God I hope I'm wrong.

You think the game will be that close?

Bailey was not good last year and hadn't exactly been automatic before that for a bit while playing with us. It looks like he is finally getting it back together but the fact is he was making too much for the production we were getting...which seems to be becoming a trend here.

Bailey had declined in FG % 3 straight years so it ok we moved on. I just don't want to wait 3 years to move on from Maher. Maher was supposed to have a big leg but he's missed 2 50+ yarders this year so why keep him? maybe we should just hire that girl who went viral kicking a while ago, atleast jerry can market her.

Anyone who didn't know he was gonna get it back together was just looking for yet another player to complain about.

Not really.

I was no less a Dan Bailey fan than anyone else, but I didn't think he was going to get it back together... and still reserve judgment until he's well beyond a mere 5 weeks into a season.

It's not Dan. It's not me. It's just what we've all normally seen with the professional lifespan of NFL kickers.

Especially rare to see someone hit the wall that he's hit and recover back to anything close to his previous acclaim.

* For some bizzarre otherworldly strange reason,I'd drunkenly stumbled upon a Skip Bayless post game YouTube upload COWBOYS LOSS, from the hearth of his Martha Stewartishly bedecked home(,,,er,,, and chosen wardrobes attire, too:lmao:) and he was entirely besides himself, wrestling with the flummoxed connundrum of which being was our long gone no mo-jo no-mo' #5,,,o_O

*pretty sure I'd lingered a little to long in listening to it, seeing's how I remember it so well:lmao:*

I would agree with that. Bailey was looking shaky. However, this year I felt they should give Maher competition in camp, real competition, not a camp leg.

Yeah... that move didn't work well.
It did last year. Maher was the better kicker. If either Maher gets it together this year, or we find another kicker to replace Maher that does a good job, it may still end up working out.

Maher is the future. I think they will give him a contract extension just to prove a point
Yup, and if none of you like it then go find some other team to root for. We should be supportive, not critical, haters........................................................
