Correct me if I’m wrong but wasnt Maher better last year? Im saying in hindsight maybe it wasn’t the wrong move. Easy to say now that baileys kicking well again. If he was bad last year for us we would have wanted him gone anyway.

Now that being said I never wanted to give up on him. Just because we found a “big leg” type kicker didn’t mean everything was automatically good.

Bailey was always so consistent with the 25-45 yarders. He was reliable

IIRC, Maher started off pretty good, but about halfway through the season, he started missing a few easier ones, here and there.

I would have rather kept him on the roster, even if it used a space that one of the other unused players has. Give him a year to get back to form, while Maher makes the long FG attempts and Bailey makes the shorter ones.
* I wasn't all that pleased in seeing him being floated on down stream, myself amigo( like, I'd safely venture a guess of 98.5% of our fellow brethren were either)

Buehler didn't fit this scenario. Dallas knew was was trash inside 50 yards; Bailey was signed for mid to close range kicks, Buehler for 50+ yarders and KOs.
Buehler was actually the sole kicker in 2010. It wasn’t a shared role. He was with Dallas one more year, but only did kickoffs I think

I think Bailey had some injury issues when we dumped him. He was also the most accurate kicker in the NFL if I remember. We should of let him heal up, looks like after the offseason he is back in form.

Bailey had to leave to get right. You can fault them for keeping Maher but I can’t for dumping Bailey. We can’t tell them to be ballsy and when they do it regret it.

Bailey was at one point, the most accurate kicker in NFL history, wasn't he?

Um. Yes. Why, yes, he was.

And so was this other guy.

So, your point is?

Of those who played most or all of the regular season, Dan Bailey had the toughest 2018.

That may not matter to 2019.

Or... five games into the season... it might.

You do realize you're in CZ, right?

It's a (semi) internet rule that the ones with the worst opinions are also the ones claiming the mantle of the BEST FANS EVAHHHHH!!!!

maybe you're playing along, I can't really tell if I'm honest. My post was not to be taken seriously.

Look, what fun would the game be if you knew you were going to get points from all your kicks. Much more interesting when you dont know if the 35 yarder is going to go through or not.
lol very funny and we now have that!!
This team was betting that Bailey wouldn't get it back together and we would be better off with someone else. Lost that bet. Hey, we could sign that guy who missed 4 field goals and got cut. He's available.
the jones boys bailed on bailey
at first signs of trouble, and they saw a chance to go cheap at the kicker position.
They didnt consider you get what you pay for, and now they miss on 35 yd kicks.

Whoa -- and to think we let Dan Bailey go for someone like Maher!

Jerry and Stephen might well be singing the blues for that now.

May have been Stephen's bright idea! He's the cheapie of the two!

Honestly, I would give Roberto Aguayo a tryout. He looked good when he tried out for the Chargers last season and I read an article about how he's overcome his yips. 25 years old, 2nd round pick, 3rd most accurate kicker in NCAA history. What do we have to lose?

Cheap has nothing to do with it. They have to spend a certain percentage of the salary cap. It's just a matter of who they spend it on.

It's got something to do with it -- if it were up to Jerry alone, we might still have Bailey now.

As it is, we're paying for garbage and we'll probably be looking for someone else next year.
