This new lawyer for the league is likely the next Supreme Court nominee by this president--per Bobby Belt. He may have significant political influence and this worries me.

Oh BS. UNLESS he knows some of the judges and talks to them there is little INFLUENCE at all.

Some people take conspiracy theories way too far. No not EVERYONE is connected or even if they are have any real pull.

The good ol boys network is WAY over stated in this day and age.

I think people are kidding themselves if they are thinking NFL fans, as a whole, are feeling the same way about the Zeke case as they did the Brady/N.E. case. They are not even remotely similar outside of the court system being involved. The similarity ends there.

As shady as Zeke's accuser may appear to be, Zeke looks anything but clean in this. He doesn't exactly present himself as a guy that most parents would want dating their daughter. Some will view this case as the NFL taking steps in the right direction against domestic violence.

I'm not saying that there aren't questions about this case that may give some people pause. I'm saying it's sort of naive to think that the majority of people are on Zeke's side on this. I don't think that's the case at all. There's a whole world out there beyond the borders of cowboy nation.

Considering that most of the hacks are afraid of the NFL so they will not dare disagree. So where would the fans here about all the NFL bs? You are probably right but the fact is EVERY team has players on it that are not exactly choir boys. And most fans know it. So I DOUBT they consider Zeke anything special one way or another as regards this.

Bluntly speaking I think the vast majority of NFL fans could care less about statements as regards domestic violence or examples or anything like that. SO this idea that the fans of the NFL are against or for Zeke is widely over stated on both sides.

I agree...which is why I used the phrase 'some will view this case'. Then there is the largest sector of NFL fans that simply do not care about this case at all.

The NFL still has time to let this go before they risk losing that leverage completely, but even if they do drop the case, all future suspensions will already have a cloud of doubt over them and the NFLPA is likely to take more and more of them to the courts than they would have prior to Elliott's case. I think the NFLPA does not want the NFL to drop it at this point because they believe, and rightly so, that the NFL screwed up big time with this case and this is probably the NFLPA's best chance to undermine or severely restrict the NFL's authority on player discipline and quite possibly force the NFL to relinquish control of it to a real third party.

Mazzant's decision is already highly damaging to the NFL, which is why they are fighting so hard to on this jurisdiction issue. If they can get it changed, then it never happened.

Actually, I've been reading comments by articles on other general sports sites for months on this. And sure, there are many who feel as you do, and there is merit to that as Elliott hasn't exactly been without blame for his actions. However, I have read countless posts by fans of other teams who despise Goodell and the NFL. I am not speaking of the character of the player, and whether you like or dislike Elliott in this case, there is a huge backlash that has formed against the NFL over this. I am not saying that people are going to say, "If they suspend Elliott, I'm done with the NFL" though I am sure a few Cowboys fans might say that. What I am saying is that fans of all NFL teams across the country are starting to feel like the NFL is in the wrong after going after Brady and now Elliott, especially as average fans have started learning how the NFL hid and ignored evidence that was in his favor.

The NFL is a tyrant; they are showing that only their thoughts matter...they agree with the kneeling, they go after players with no proof, they give the same fines for feigned arrow shooting as the do for mimicking a dog relieving itself on the field....

...it is pretty obvious when you want Redzone or other highlights that there are empty seats in A LOT of stadiums...people are tired of this...you see people burning their season tickets to make a point (although, they have already paid for them, but they aren't parking and buying food and merchandise).....so, now that viewership is dropping across the league, at some point, this ridiculous clowns in the NFL offices have to take a step back and realize that they are going to continue to lose fans, and thus, their money....they MUST do something at some point....

...this is a frustrating process to witness....(Pants jumps off of soap box)

We can agree to disagree on this. I just strongly feel that the backlash you see this from a very loud minority. Most NFL fans simply do not care about this at all

That would be crazy if lawyers and judges knew each other. Highly doubtful. It's not like the federalist society has a large convention or anything every year and socializes and talks about their views on legal topics. You'd have to be a conspiracy theorist to believe that. Except for the fact that the attendees talk openly about it and their membership. He is a member and it's highly likely some of the federal judges hearing the case are too.

Why would you immediately jump to the conspiracy talk? That seems like quite a leap to make from what I said. I simply said this lawyer "may" have some influence and this worried me regarding the Zeke case. To think a prominent lawyer that may be a Supreme Court nominee has any possible influence doesn't seem that far fetched to me, but since you're so sure I'll rest easy.
