Sorry, you're right on Division 1 FCS. But again, I don't have a big problem with the 4th round gamble. I wouldn't have wanted to give up anything higher than that though.

Agreed. The Cowboys were his shot to show he just needed to get healthy and gain experience, and it didn't work out.

What a colossal waste of time was this guy, and I don't even think it's his fault. The Joneses do this to athletes. Athletes need to not get caught up in Jerry's spider web in the first place if they want a long successful career. Sports Agents take heed by avoiding the Cowboys. Your client's talent will not be maximized in Dallas.

We will see. The Cowboys did try to sign him during the season. Lance and his agent felt they could get a better deal in free agency.

North Dakota State is a Division I FCS football program. The 49ers took a foolish gamble. The Cowboys had the advantage of seeing at least a limited view of Trance in the NFL and still thought he warranted a 4th round draft pick.

I'll be one of the dissenting opinions on this. I think it was worth the risk. It's easy in hindsight to say it was a stupid decision. Keep in mind the 49ers are a well run organization and their management/scouting team saw something in him when they gave away the farm to draft him.

Not necessarily. It could have been that he turned into a top back up, or if he ended up looking like more than that he or Dak could be trade bait. Jerry wouldn't have made the deal if he viewed it as a no win situation that stood no chance of him getting credit for a good move.
