News: [PFT]: I think if I had $40 million, I'd be the happiest man alive. - Micah Parsons

No, you missed. Greedy is taking up so much of the cap that the team cannot compete for a super bowl. No one gives a fried bird turd what the players make on a personal note. How did you miss this so badly?
One thing I see is when cap goes up, the stars want the enormous contracts, but the rest of the
team gets smaller contracts.
Most of the teams players dont make much where certain guys make ridiculous amounts.

The stars cant be stars, without their low pay teammates doing their part, so at some
point I would think the low payed guys would get tired of supporting the guys who
make all the money.

It takes a team effort to win, but only small parts of the team are making all the money.

No problem, except Dak, CeeDee, Trevon, Steele, Osa and a few others already have big contracts. Due next are Micah, Tyler Smith, Bland, Sam Williams and a few more. How are the Cowboys going to afford them all with the others already occupying huge contracts?
You make an excellent point, you cannot pay everybody. This is where a team having a good GM that knows what the hell he is doing is vital to team building, see Howie Roseman with the Eagles.

But what does this have to do with greed? Your original post said you were tired of players today just being greedy and we should trade all the ones wanting to get paid.

Team building is nothing more than an exercise in determining which players you should pay market value to and which players you can replace without a significant decrease in production from that position by letting that player sign for market value elsewhere.

It has absolutely nothing to do with greed. You are confusing "market value" with greed, they are not the same thing.

You cannot separate the two my friend, the salary cap is tied to league revenue. What you are complaining about is not player compensation, you are complaining about team building.

Yes, you cannot pay everybody, that is why you need a GM that knows what the hell he is doing and knows which players to sign and which players not to sign. That has absolutely nothing to do with greed, that is called managing your salary cap.

Now, if your GM is a complete idiot and has no idea how to manage the salary cap and has no idea who to pay and who not to pay, then yes, I guess blame in on greed of why you cant compete while other teams, like the Eagles, keep winning SBs.

If you give him that contract, you have to do it in a way we have an out in 2 years. You cannot build a team giving someone that isn't a QB that amount of cap space.

Let another team take that on.

Totally disagree. Today's players are showing they are all about the money and how much they can get. They don't care about their team's salary cap.

The salary cap is the same for each team, in other words, each team has the same amount of money to spend.

So, how it is some teams are able to compete and win SBs by spending the same amount of money that teams drafting in the top 5 do?

Are you saying that only the players on the bad teams are greedy? If not, if all players are greedy as you say, how is it possible that some teams are able to win with greedy players and some teams are not?

Seems to me team building, as I mentioned, correlates way more to winning than how many greedy players are on your roster. That just seems like an excuse for losing. Do you seriously believe the reason the Eagles won the SB and the Cowboys didnt even make the playoffs is because the Cowboy players are greedy and the Eagles players are not???

I find that hypothesis not supported by any empirical evidence.

How is 13 sacks per season worth 40 million a year?
Hmmm… well his value goes far beyond what you can simply quantify in sacks now doesn’t it?
He’s someone teams have to gameplan extensively for just to limit him to 13 sacks. His numbers for 2023 when he played a full season was 13 sacks, 100 pressures, he created pressure on 23% of his pass rush attempts and was 1st in the league forcing double teams on 35% of his rushing attempts. Myles Garrett was 2nd at 29%!
But hey, if you only want to quantify sacks. In 2018 when the bears made Khalil Mack the highest paid defensive player the cap was 177m (102m less than now). Through the first 4 seasons of his career Mack had 42.5 sacks. Through his first 4 seasons Parsons has 52. Only 4 other players have generated 50 sacks in their first 4 in the history of the NFL. Someone is going to pay him 40m plus per season. I’d just assume it be us, I rather enjoy seeing him every week!

You fail to realize how it's always Cowboys players who usually get highest paid contracts which lead the NFL in pay.

Bravo, I've been thinking the same for a while. Thanks for putting this out there!

Basically just described how most businesses in the United States function.

And team building is very closely tied to individual salaries. We're going to have to disagree about the greed thing.

Your last sentence is spot on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They don't have a QB who insists on a short term 4 year deal which makes it impossible for the team to acquire the pieces needed for contention.

Look closely at the contracts. Hurts signs deals that the team can work w/(longer deals). Dak fights for shorter term deals.

It is absolutely on the GM for bowing under to their demands. He's not a football guy, and that becomes more glaring every day.
