A NEW FAT ALBERT?

Our sources at the combine tell us that, although LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell might still be headed for a top-five spot in the draft, he was looking a little JaMeaty at his official weigh-in on Friday.

"He looked more like Charles Barkley than a football player," said the source of Russell, who tipped the scales at 265 pounds.

He had "a lot of loose tissue in the midsection" and looked like he hasn't seen a weight room in months, with "very little muscle definition for such a big guy."

It shouldn't be a problem if he's drafted by the Browns, since they're sure to eventually put him on the staph infection diet.

He's like a flavor of the week. I don't see why people think he is so good. He can throw a deep ball and passed well against ND in the bowl game. Big deal. Anyone could pass well against ND's defense last year and this is coming from a ND fan.

Might this make the Raiders re-think their plans? It wouldn't shock me either way.

He's always been listed at 260 lbs. He's a big dude. If Oakland has been seriously considering him, this shouldn't change their mind at all.

Not a good year for quaterbacks. You have Russell who's been very inconsistent in his career. Brady Quinn has struggled against most of the good teams he played. Troy Smith is a smurf. Yuck.

He was the best QB in the SEC last year. Which just so happened to be the best conference in college football.

it always amazes me how guys show up like this when this meeting can mean millions of dollars to them.

It's just amazing with some of these guys....Ya think if you've got millions of $$$ on the line that maybe you could lay off the donuts for a few weeks?

ALl the pictures I have seen of all of the players- NONE of them looked ripped or in top shape. Every single lineman I saw had a gut. Even the DBs and LBs looked soft.

With millions of Dollars hanging on the line I dont know why he would be stupid enough to let himself have any flaws.

He will be a bust in my opinion.

I'd rather have Brady Quinn with a chip on his shoulder than a Jamarcus Russell who is getting pat on the back for basically nothing.

...enter pic of BQ stretching here...

Actually BQ MIGHT look better because he never hauls around any excess weight. That and all the exercise he had running for his life this season since the O line sucked like an industrial strength vacume. I hope no one is stupid enough to waste a high pick on Ryan Harris- he STANK it up this year.

I don't think it will end up being a big deal. He's always been in the 260-270 range, and PFT has a tendency to overexaggerate things a bit. Their "unnamed sources" tend to be especially comical and over-the-top, and they all seemingly have a fondness for the word "turd". Besides, everyone knows that Russell has been working out with Tom Brady's personal "QB Guru" Tom Martinez since the season ended, so its not like he's at home watching Dr. Phil and eating Cheetos and doesn't care about the draft.

True- the daily turd is about as reliable as BSPN, and that is just below the level of the National Enquirer.

I just saw his weight-in on the NFLN...dude looks fat enough to fall in love, and break it.

Players are willing to do most anything to avoid becoming a Raider.

(It didn't work for Janikowski)

Yea some people seem to have the mistaken belief that these guys train to look like bodybuilders or models...it's just not the case. I work out pretty hard core, consistently, and intelligently and I eat way more cleanly than any of these college kids could or would, but I don't look like a pro bodybuilder either. People have a lot of unreasonable expectations. That said I don't have any idea of what Russell actually looked like, maybe he has gained too much weight, maybe he hasn't.
