“I didn’t expect it,” Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. “I really didn’t expect it.”

Jones said he’s particularly pleased with the way head coach Jason Garrett and his staff have been able to coach up young players like rookie quarterback Dak Prescott and rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott.

“We’ve got a bunch of young guys out there,” Jones said. “We know that we have some guys who will be coming back, but now to some degree we know we can win if they’re not back on time. This is a competitive league. I didn’t expect to do it without Dez, without our left tackle, without key players like Scandrick. It says a lot about our depth. It says a lot about Jason and our coaching. I’m really proud of those guys. They are doing a really good job. They are not looking back. They are lining up with literally who we have at game time. We warm them up out there. If they can go or if they can’t, we find out at warmup. That’s who is going to play.”

Why not? Looking at the competition, he should have. I fully expected 4-0 with Romo and still thought it possible with Dak. The teams we have played are not good.
I think he means from before the season started considering they lost Romo back then and had to start a 4th round rookie quarterback, especially when you consider last year the Cowboys won only 1 game without Romo.

true but just remember last season how it went down with vetern backup QBs and vetern RBs. we played who had on our schedule. we lost most games.

this season so far playing who we have on our schedule with Rookies in those positions.

This is kinda funny to me. Last year, Jerry said he expected us to be at least .500 by the time Tony got back and still in the thick of it. This year, he didn't expect us to be 3.-1 (which to be honest, is understandable). Perhaps there is a lesson here?

This quote made me laugh..."They are lining up with literally who we have at game time. We warm them up out there. If they can go or if they can’t, we find out at warmup. That’s who is going to play.”

Jerry is describing the DL and LB positions. Same was true about the OL before Tyron, Leary, Collins, Fred and Martin. LOL!

Oh no, here comes another 10-year contract for Jason Garrett. :banghead:

Jess, Jerry thanks for believing in your own team. Smh.

What other GM in the league would publicaly say such a thing?

After Dak's preseason I was hoping for 3-1 and would have been really dissappointed with anything less than 2-2

Because we were 1-11 last year without Romo. There was hope but no realistic reason to expect Dak to be doing what he's doing.

All of those guys are overrated. Scandrick? Really, Jerry!

Yes, I think the LT is overrated.

As long as we have Dak, T.Craw, McClain, Collins and Lawrence, we can go to war with anybody! Throw in Beasley!

If Williams goes down, Butler steps up

The backs are interchangeable. We'll survive no matter who's running the ball.

OL? You can put any fat guy in there and have him get the job done. Michael Irvin's words

Now here is the same question given to Belichick

“I expect to win every game losing is unexceptable” Belichick said, via the New England Morning News. “I really did expect it"

Going into the season I thought we were far below the competition we have played. Nice surprise

The power of clapping!

Actually, this must irritate the Garrett haters to see the team doing so well. Their dream of getting rid of Garrett and bringing in Chuckie is dying before their eyes.

Then you really overestimated those teams. Especially Chicago and SF (two of the worst). NY and Washington could be considered okay teams, but that's the best. And you thought we were far below that?

No I didn't over estimate them. I thought that they were terrible. I just expected us to be even more terrible without Romo and this sorry excuse of a defense. Thank you Dak and Zeke
