“I didn’t expect it,” Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. “I really didn’t expect it.”

Jones said he’s particularly pleased with the way head coach Jason Garrett and his staff have been able to coach up young players like rookie quarterback Dak Prescott and rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott.

“We’ve got a bunch of young guys out there,” Jones said. “We know that we have some guys who will be coming back, but now to some degree we know we can win if they’re not back on time. This is a competitive league. I didn’t expect to do it without Dez, without our left tackle, without key players like Scandrick. It says a lot about our depth. It says a lot about Jason and our coaching. I’m really proud of those guys. They are doing a really good job. They are not looking back. They are lining up with literally who we have at game time. We warm them up out there. If they can go or if they can’t, we find out at warmup. That’s who is going to play.”

All of those guys are overrated. Scandrick? Really, Jerry!

Yes, I think the LT is overrated.

As long as we have Dak, T.Craw, McClain, Collins and Lawrence, we can go to war with anybody! Throw in Beasley!

If Williams goes down, Butler steps up

The backs are interchangeable. We'll survive no matter who's running the ball.

OL? You can put any fat guy in there and have him get the job done. Michael Irvin's words

SORRY. did you say Tyron is overrated?

Now here is the same question given to Belichick

“I expect to win every game losing is unexceptable” Belichick said, via the New England Morning News. “I really did expect it"

Why not? Looking at the competition, he should have. I fully expected 4-0 with Romo and still thought it possible with Dak. The teams we have played are not good.
Why not? did you not see the disaster last year without Tony and Dez? That goes to show the expectations he had of Garrett and company.

Well jerry is giving the coaches all the credit??
Take away dak, and we would be 0-4 with any other qb.
I think Dak coached himself up.

What would be interesting is figuring out what % of our salary cap is not playing at the present. You have Romo, Scan, Dez, Tyron all on longer term contracts. I'll bet over 60% of our salary cap is injured or not presently playing.

that is a poor way to look at it, you dont know how bad or good teams are this early, and really until
end of the year.
Every team even playoff teams including our 2014 year play weak teams.
The Rams are 3-1 right now are they good??
Carolina is 1-3 right now are they bad ??

Atlanta is 3-1 and scoring leader, but like us they havent played a team with a winning record at the time they played them.
also all 4 teams they played, have allowed over 100 points on defense.
Dallas has allowed 77 for perspective.

Even bad teams can beat other teams on a given day. Buffalo shut out NE at home, it happens.

Dallas is also one of 4 teams in NFC that have scored over 100 points yet people think with Romo we would be what over 200?

A win is a win, 3 wins in a row is good no matter who your playing.
In the past 5 or 6 years I think tony only won 3 in a row one time maybe twice , and more than 3 only once in 2014.
Mostly with tony this team could not win more than 2 in a row no matter who they played.
The 6 wins in a row in 2014 were against 4 teams that wound up with losing records, only 2 had winning records at end.
The titans were the first win and they wound up 2-14 the game we lost to end the streak was against a 4-12 Commander team !

Now Dak has 3 in a row, and people are discounting it based on who they played.
So if Dak wins next game, he will have done something tony only did once in past 5 years

Romo had a 6 game and a 5 game winning streak in 2014.

Peoole don't expect 200 in 4 games, but 120+ is very likely.

You absolutely can have an idea of if teams are good or bad early on. Or at least an opinion about it. There are some exceptions, but really bad teams are fairly easy to spot before the season.

Who is discounting Dak or these wins? Jerry is the one discounting his team with his comments.

I think there are some people looking to defend Dak when there was nothing to defend.

I see your point, but don't forget we lost to some pretty bad teams last year without Romo. Honestly when Romo went down and the events of last year, even with Dak's amazing preseason, I thought we'd be 1-6 when Romo gets back. I believed Dak would not be as dominant in the regular season as he was in the preseason, but I never expected him to play as well as he has played. We should be 4-0 and the one loss has nothing to do with Dak. As a rookie I thought Dak would play average to below average, just due to being a rookie and getting used the speed of the game and all the rookie transition stuff. Nothing to do with his talent level, just the college to NFL transition I thought he would struggle. He's playing like a veteran, in fact he's playing better than most veterans, ala Fitzpatrick.

But I'm with Jerry on this one (man that scares me to say that), I never though we would be 3-1 without Romo considering how bad we played against quality teams and bad teams last year. We just didn't show up last year and I was expecting the same this year. I'm pleasantly surprised and geeked about the future, and the present.

To me though, I think it's funny how much arguing is going on with other threads about things. This is one of the best times to be a Cowboy fan in the last 15 years and people are arguing about stuff. Enjoy it fellow Cowboy fans, we're in a good place as a franchise right now, have fun with it. I am

This year, teams are 36-7 when their QB has a rating over 100 in the game. Over the last 3 seasons, the Cowboys are 14-3 when the QB has a rating over 100.

Prescott's 4 games:
69.4
103.7
123.6
114.7

What I like is Dallas looks better than most though they would. The top nfc teams don't look as good as most thought. It's early though. Packers, cards, panthers, Seattle none look crazy good.
