Jerry Jones promises “good news” on Ezekiel Elliott
Posted by Mike Florio on September 5, 2017, 11:22 AM EDT

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn’t say much (relatively speaking) when it comes to running back Ezekiel Elliott‘s ongoing suspension situation. But when Jones talks, he says plenty.

“I don’t want to make the comment, and I know y’all can imagine with all that we have flying around the courtrooms and the basic hearing rooms,” Jones said when asked about Elliott during his Tuesday visit with 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. “That would be one I’d pass on this morning.”

And then he added this: “I’ll have good news for you as we get into the week.”

It’s unclear what the nature of the good news would be. The best news would be a decision by arbitrator Harold Henderson to overturn the suspension entirely, which would end the situation and allow Elliott to play.

Jones also was asked whether he expects a decision on Tuesday.

Nothing against Jerry Jones...but this news should be taken with a grain of salt. After all, that same Jerry thought the league had nothing to suspend Zeke for and the league suspended him anyway. So, Jerry's thoughts and opinion, at the end of the day, mean very little, imo.

Hmmmmm...wondering he has the scoop on Henderson decision or the court granting injunction?

I HATE when he does this. He's always selling something. If he doesn't have great news and is just spewing stuff, I don't like the idea of the NFL catching him saying things like this and then bending us over, just because he can't help himself.

I love it! Had a bit of an ominous tone to it too.

No matter what else happens, Jerry's not taking this lying down.

I hope that even the 'Nuclear option' of boycotting the Sunday Night game entirely is on the table.

I hear you but Jerry got info from people in the NFL office that made him confident not someone on here. That's different imo. If you're just spouting off that's dumb but when folks inside of where the decision is coming from say it's all good how many wouldn't think their is some truth to it? I can't fault him for that and you also have @The Quest for Six dapping this post which is also bad news. This guy is a top level troll on this issue

Therein lies my issue. Jerry had insider info before and turned out to be wrong. The fact that the NFL filed a motion of dismissal on the Zeke case tells me they are posturing to dig in.

The only good I see on the horizon is Zeke will play against the Giants. But if he still has to serve it at some point this year, I'd prefer he get it over with.

hahahha, ol' jerry up to his little tricks. but really, I would not be shocked if this thing got thrown out by Henderson. That is why it is taking him all this time to write his decision.... The NFL ignored or negligently covered up the report that could question the plaintiff's credibility, and that is no small thing. The judge should make it clear to the NFL office that this kind of "investigation" is not to be done again. If it was you or me, this would be thrown out automatically in our legal system. If the commissioner is going to be the judge and executioner on NFL cases, then this kind of thing should never happen and therefore punished. They are relying 100% on the credibility of the plaintiff, and ignored their own report that would question it.

I heard even in worst case scenario, and this suspension is upheld by Henderson, or even reduced to 2 to 4 games, the Texas court will intervene and stay Elliott's request and he will still play this week. So it appears Zeke will play this week no matter what happens, maybe that is why Jerry feels good news is coming.

Jerry the doctor also told us Romo was fine last preseason after the injury. Jerry loves to hear himself talk.

By them filing the dismissal motion, tells me they already know and colluded with Henderson, he will not vacate the suspension. Maybe reduce to 4 games, but not vacated.
Now, yes this is normal procedure and was expected for the NFL to do so. But no doubt in my mind the railroading will continue.

He needs to keep interest in the game. Get people pumped upped and all of that. Just kidding for most of that, but a bit of truth to it. LOL.

PFT changed the article name from "good news" to "more news". Recommend changing the post title too before everyone crucifies Jerry for making false promises again, when in fact, he was incorrectly quoted by PFT but since corrected.
