Jerry Jones promises “good news” on Ezekiel Elliott
Posted by Mike Florio on September 5, 2017, 11:22 AM EDT

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn’t say much (relatively speaking) when it comes to running back Ezekiel Elliott‘s ongoing suspension situation. But when Jones talks, he says plenty.

“I don’t want to make the comment, and I know y’all can imagine with all that we have flying around the courtrooms and the basic hearing rooms,” Jones said when asked about Elliott during his Tuesday visit with 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. “That would be one I’d pass on this morning.”

And then he added this: “I’ll have good news for you as we get into the week.”

It’s unclear what the nature of the good news would be. The best news would be a decision by arbitrator Harold Henderson to overturn the suspension entirely, which would end the situation and allow Elliott to play.

Jones also was asked whether he expects a decision on Tuesday.
The good news is Johnny Walker is having a sale.

Too late.

CBS now has the Jerry is promising "good news" as a lead story on their website.

So when the news breaks and it's not good, they are going to rip Jerry despite the fact he never said what they are claiming.

Jerry Jones promises “more news” on Ezekiel Elliott

“I don’t want to make the comment, and I know y’all can imagine with all that we have flying around the courtrooms and the basic hearing rooms,” Jones said when asked about Elliott during his Tuesday visit with 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. “That would be one I’d pass on this morning. I’ll have more news for you as we get into the week.”

Jones also was asked whether he expects a decision on Tuesday.

“I don’t know,” he said. “I can give you reasons. We spent time on this the last few days. Timing, as it turns out, is a pretty critical component here in terms of the ambiguity for lack of a better word. There’s a lot of things that impact availability relative to timing both places at the hearing and the court level. And I know — I’m just being redundant with what you guys know — but I really, when you really think hard about it, you don’t know timing wise. But a lot clears up over the next 24 to 36 hours.”

I hear you but Jerry got info from people in the NFL office that made him confident not someone on here. That's different imo. If you're just spouting off that's dumb but when folks inside of where the decision is coming from say it's all good how many wouldn't think their is some truth to it? I can't fault him for that and you also have @The Quest for Six dapping this post which is also bad news. This guy is a top level troll on this issue

I agree that you can't blame JJ when he got his information directly from the league office's main investigator...I can blame him for going public with it instead of waiting until the league made their final decision. Just like in this case, if he knows something keep it to himself. The rest of us will find out in due time.

jerry would probably be better of if he just said nothing at this point about the zeke suspension no comment would really be his best news

I can agree with you on that regarding keeping it to yourself

Now, why does Jerry do this ****?

"And then he added this: “I’ll have good news for you as we get into the week.”"
He's the well-to-do uncle who always says inappropriate things at the worst time. And he's creepy because he always winks at you after he says it.

Nothing against Jerry Jones...but this news should be taken with a grain of salt. After all, that same Jerry thought the league had nothing to suspend Zeke for and the league suspended him anyway. So, Jerry's thoughts and opinion, at the end of the day, mean very little, imo.

He was right they didn't have anything. That they did it anyway is besides the point.

Agreed. But "good news" could mean alot of things. If it doesn't mean that the suspension is being completed aborted (which seems highly unlikely in the wake of the NFL's counter-suit to dismiss the Zeke case in Texas), as far as I'm concerned, it's not good news.

If it's good news in the sense that Zeke is playing Sunday night, I expected that...so while that's good, it's not news.

I think there's a bug in whatever billionaire software he's running in that terminator brain of his. It keeps him alive and operating, but it affects speech and every now an then causes him to slip out something cryptic and controversial at the WORST POSSIBLE TIME.

It's half funny, and half maddening.

He's just coming out and supporting his player - nothing more.

I think he gets 1 game reduction, misses 5. Alfred Morris has 350 yards through 5 games.

I think the "good news" he was referring to, was that the team resigned Kellen Moore! :p
