There could never be a better year to go deep in the playoffs. So many people would be secretly pissed off.

I don't know what is worse, the fact that you are right or the fact that most of us could name the posters that fit this description.

You wouldn't, but a lot of people would. They wouldn't even enjoy the ride because they'd be so busy screaming it was all a mirage.

Exactly

:eyepoke:

There is no way Wade Phillips is the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys after this season.

And it's crazy to be asking Jerry these questions now. He was saying Campo and Gailey would return within a few weeks of their firing. Oh, and Owens, too.

Jerry's word means nothing, especially four months out.

You hit the nail on the head there, Choc.

So many "fans" are so committed to their private "fire-Wade" agenda that they wouldn't know how to act if we had a long playoff run.

Sure there is a way, it will take the Cowboys winning big. If Wade can get this team over the hump why fire him unless the reasons are personal and not professional?

They'd have to be sorry fans.

For as little faith as I have in good ol' Wade, I'd still love to see both him and the Cowboys have success.

That's ultimately what I want to happen and I'd be all for Wade winning the Super Bowl this year and riding off into the sunset.

Do I think it's gonna happen? No.

Do I want it to happen? Absolutely.

Well played Chief. :)

super lame commentary by you and Choc but no worries.

not gonna happen :(

the only people who'd be angry would be fans of the other teams and players like TO.

Exactly. If Wade can prove his critics wrong and they still can't accept him that is their problem and has nothing to do with coaching ability but their own personal agenda. I have no clue as to how this team will fair but I do think winning coaches should be rewarded and if he fails then Jerry would have every right to replace him.

I'm a fire Wade guy, yet if he did manage to do the impossible then I'll be real happy. I don't mind being wrong about Wade and his ability to coach this team and truthfully, I hope I am.................but I know I'm not.

If Wade Phillips get another year here, we are clearly right back in the Gailey/Campo puppet era.

And the results will be just as poor as they were before.

Well it depends on how this year plays out. If they finish 9-7 and dont get to the playoffs or have no success in it, he'll be gone.

On the other hand if they go 11-15, 12-4 and have some success in the postseason, keeping him wouldnt be the worst thing.

I agree any statement by Jerry at this point is meaningless.

But I don't know that there is any level of success that makes us bring Wade back, other than Super Bowl victory. Statistically, it is very unlikely for coaches Wade's age to have postseason success. It's hard to keep the intenstity up, and eventually your words and methods just become tired and repetitive.

But I think Wade will "resign". :)

BTW, am I the only one who read this as Jerry remaining committed to Wade right now, during the season? I took it to mean that he's not considering firing him right now.

Of course all bets are off after the season. Even I don't think Wade will be back then.

Not at all, I'd definitely agree with that.

If the team has a good season, makes and has a level of success in the playoffs - I'd say at least two wins - and shows continued signs of improvement, I can see Wade getting an extension.

And I would have no problem with that.

But Wade's track record paints a different picture and until he shakes that label, he still has it with me.

I think he, Garrett, and Romo as well, are all in the 'show me' boat at this point and they'll have to wait until the 'games really count' to prove their respective doubters wrong.

Hopefully they all do because that will mean good news for all of us.

I would've swore late December last year that Wade wouldn't be back. I guess that 44-6 season ender really left an impression on Jerry.
"You know *lipsmack* this is the type of guy we need when we open that *lipsmack* billion dollar stadium next year."

I dont care what Jerry says, Wade not having a contract after this season speaks louder then words.

If this team continues to underachieve Wade will be gone after this season.

uggh.

Is this what espn is going to turn this into.

I am so glad I dont have to watch the pregame or listen to the tv crew tonight.

All they are going to do is bash jerry, wade and romo, make fun of the stadium and say Dallas sucks anyway so none of this matters.

leave it to espn to start this crap.

If we lose the you know what is going to hit the fan.

You're not the only one. I posted earlier in the thread saying that same thing.

Don't count on a mid-season firing. So hopefully that'll end some of those fire Wade threads.
