I don't see how anyone can not agree with what Jones is saying.

Is there any question the NFL is having issues right now?

Does any owner think things are "fine"?

Disregard the other factors for why Jerry Jones might be leading the charge on this and focus instead on the message.

Any owner who thinks the same status quo should continue is one that should be charged with "conduct detrimental to the league", along with its Commissioner.

Besides the Zeke thing, once you have sponsorship money going away, Jerry is going to do something. He loves him some money.

A lot of the owners are the hands off type though, they buy a sports franchise as a trophy, like a mega yacht or something so they don't care as much about income from the team.

This is my thinking as well. Because the Cowboys are so polarizing, I could see a lot of fans simply going against whatever Jerry is trying to do (similar to the Zeke situation). However, almost all fans despise Roger Goodell and think he has done a mostly poor job in his role. How can these two sentiments be reconciled?

If John Voldemara was doing this, I would be 1000% on board with him. To me it matters not who the message comes from, an anti-Goodell message is movement in the correct direction.

Thanks for posting. Some good thoughts i in the
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is no longer laughing about the possibility of being disciplined for conduct detrimental to the interests of the NFL.

Via Andrew Beaton of the Wall Street Journal, the latest missive in the letter-writing campaign comes from Jones. The letter requests a special meeting of the owners to address the extension of Commissioner Roger Goodell’s contract.

Thanks for posting. Some good thoughts in the commentary section in the article.

JJ former player, earned his own money and does care in the end ( at least to me ) about his players, and fans across the league.

Yes, some boneheaded player decisions, but done to make us better after the long gone " glory days"

Goodell is vastly overpaid. If he was the CEO of a Fortune 500 company in my opinion he would be voted out by the Board of Directors..

The NFL revenues are around 13 billion.... for comparison General Mills is 16 billion. Do you think the CEO of General Mills who is paid 9 million would be getting a pass for diminishing the brand the way Goodell has who is paid 40 million ?????

Al Davis 2.0

Jerry has hit a new level of crazy. I hope Stephen takes control of the franchise soon.

Some background on Arthur Blank, who along with Mara, to me is driving this agenda to protect Goodell

Arthur Blank and Bernie Marcus cofounded Home Depot in 1978 after being fired from their jobs at a regional hardware store. Blank stepped down as co-chairman of Home Depot in 2001 and the next year bought the NFL's Atlanta Falcons for $545 million

Good for Blank that he made it after being fired, but stop with the Home Depot stuff. That was 16 years ago. Plus he owns a soccer team besides the falcons, whereas JJ is all in on football.

---------------------------

Net worth comparison JJ 5.6 billion, Blank 3.9, both obscenely rich but picking a " money horse" I would go with JJ.....

Also to me the Cowboys bring more to the NFL overall viewership ( love or hate) than many others.

I would not be surprised if Jerry has phone tapings or written records of RG telling him not to worry on Zeke! He’s been unabashedly confident in “non punishment” in the past so there had to have been the convos we’ve read about lately. I have no idea why there is a rush to extend with only 65% of his contract gone.
