That depends on what the history of my daughter or son's behavior was but that doesn't mean I would not support them but that is family and he is not family.

Hard to ignore what you know about people and I know more about Irvin's behavior than I want to know but the guys I know at ESPN Radio enlightened me when he was fired from there and I found new disrespect for him as a man. So, this isn't just about me not liking him because he's an irritating loudmouth amateur on the NFLN.
I am that way with my kids. I can't disagree..but emotion must be taken away and replaced by what we DO know, the facts. Which we have none because Marriot isnt complying and the alleged vic is anonymous. We have 0. This can be fixed within 45 seconds. Marriot must comply for all involved.

From Wikipedia:

Fabricated sexual assault allegation against Irvin[edit]

In 1996, as the Cowboys prepared to play the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Divisional Playoff game, media reports stated that Irvin and teammate Erik Williams, while under the influence of cocaine, had sexually assaulted a Dallas Cheerleader, Nina Shahravan, and, with a gun to her head, videotaped the interaction.

Despite Williams' and Irvin's denials of the allegations, the story largely overshadowed the game, which the Cowboys lost. The accuser was later proven to have fabricated the entire incident. She recanted her story, pled guilty to perjury and filing a false police report, and was sentenced to 90 days in jail and a fine.[15] In the game against Carolina, Irvin was injured in the opening minutes and did not return.

Remember the Duke Lacross team? This stuff happens and I suspect it happens more than we know. Unfortunately, Michael Irvin is a rock star out in public and he is far toready to chat with fans and take pictures and even have a drink with them. He should start staying away from those he doesnt know well. Now why would that lady possibly make up those allegations against Irvin? Some on here immediately believe the accuser because they have no reason to make stuff up....well? I didnt even remember this thing happening.
we have a winner. Facts are the darndest things.

Wether its a public figure or just a normal guy it shouldn't matter and "benefit of the doubt" nor "Past wrongs" should not matter either, the system we use is suppose to be case by case with facts that prove a case being the determining factor in the ruling. I dont think #88 should be guilty or not guilty based on who he is, i think if you accuse someone of a wrong you need to be able to prove they did what you said they did because thats the system we use in this country ( well suppose to be the system). Again there will be cases of "He said she said" that may be hard to prove but if we swing the other way in my eyes that is a worse way for our society.
Common sense and best post of this thread.

You don't think it matters what was communicated to the NFL Network and ESPN and whether it was true or not. Lol. My goodness. Smh
Yes I do but we do not know what was communicated to the NFLN, I don't think they told ESPN anything, why would they? They would only talk to people necessary to the situation.

The key points here are what did the hotel communicate to the NFLN and what did they communicate to Irvin?

What if the NFLN didn't think what Irvin said warranted sending him home and they were working to make sure they had all of the loose ends tied up and then he breaks the story on Wednesday morning?

There was no way they could put him on the air after the call in, the media would have had a field day and Irvin just might have said the wrong things on the air.

We have a huge chasm between our thinking on this. You do not think the call in matters and I think that is really all that does matter in this at this time.

Right

But please don’t bring up his history. I’m sure he wouldn’t abuse women anymore . Especially after drinking all night. Not the Playmaker. Give me a frikin break . Lol

if the facts say Mike is guilty. I am for it. If the facts say he's innocent, I am for it. Lets lay it all out there transparently. Whats their to hide? Release the tape. All sides are owed this.

Yea, it’s just another desperate attempt to deflect on Irvin’s behalf .

Not a very noble stance defending someone with his history . Let’s hope at some point we get the Playmaker under oath . And we can grill him on his other mishaps as well.

fair. I want whatever needs to be ruled, RULED but fairly..with all my bias set aside. FACTS matter here. Release the tape.
yes, facts do matter. But I keep saying this.... lets assume Mike did say something..... what could he have possibly said that would get him removed from a hotel and removed from his job?

So, lets play.

Mike telle her she sure is fine and hed like to get up in that. Is that enough?

Mike says hey baby, IM feeling a little horny, come up to my room and ill give you 500 bucks for 30 minutes. is that enough?

Like I said, Ive been with my wife since I was 16, so I never got to develop any kind of pick up game with woman, but doesnt this stuff happen daily in all sorts of places between men and woman? At Bars (were nt they in the hotel bar?) at sporting events? at Grocery Stores? Hell, that woman that played the wasp in that new movie said herself that she told Michael Douglas that he was a GILTF/..... meaning a Grandpa Id like to f........... Did Douglas go run tot he producer demanding she be fired? Should he have to? Should that comment she made to a male cause her to not get any future movie roles? Im thinking if Douglas had walked up t her and said he wanted to have sex with her he would get black listed at this point. He likely would have been fired... but when a woman does it, it is cute? It is sexy? I even read a darn article on it in yahoo news basically joking about it. Its so funny how when a woman does something it is funny, when a man doe sit it is sexual assault/harassment.

Hypocrisy at its' finest.

let he without sin cast the first stone. We have 0 idea what he is like privately. This is only about THIS incident, not what he might be "thinking" ..while drinking..my goodness man. Only God knows Mikes heart. Right now we are dealing with LAW. He deserves due process like any other.

I’m all for rehearsing the video. I just don’t think it’s going to reveal much except they had contact.

The smoking gun is in the complaint.

That may have happened. If it did, I might agree with the Lady a bit. But its still a far cry for a guy to lose his entire life over THAT. It seems over the top.

Yes, those examples are enough to file a complaint.

If that happened, they might have called the cops because that is solicitation and illegal.

Yes but it wouldnt be a crazy thing that things were taking wrong or out of context, you cant just assume guilt because there is a complaint, again thats speaks of a system that has huge flaws in other parts of the world. That line of thinking leads down a horrible road for everyone, a fair system using proof of fact will miss some things but in the end its a much better system than "The complaint is fact until proven otherwise". If you were in a grocery store and the clerk said you said lude comments yet everyone in line said they didnt hear it... are you ok with the complaint being the smoking gun because the camera is clearly going to show you being there but not going to pick up what was said.
