Think he goes in rd 2.
Yeah, my guess is that Dallas is taking a look in case Washington slides a little down into the second round. If they like him enough, they might contemplate a trade up from 58 to go get him.

I think some of the late first round guys they’re looking at is like that where they need to know if the player slides, and they decide to do a trade up to get them… or if they slide all the way to 58.

Darnell Is my Pet cat though I wouldn't throw my remote at the TV if we took him at 26 I would hope if they really like him to start thinking about a trade-up in the second. I Dont think he is a project he does need to polish up his route tree but that's not what you need right away. I just think that at 26 there will be a better player.

Tyler was considered a 2nd round prospect at best and we drafted him at 23. Some draft boards have Washington as a top 25 player. I would not be surprised if the Cowboys pick him in the first.
Media places where divided on if Tyler was a 1st or 2nd, but other teams wanted him in the first so I dont really see him as a second round prospect

The media actually admits their boards are agents driven because that is where they get their intel. The scouts keep their true feelings close to the vest. Tyler was probably a top 30 prospect coming into the draft by NFL scouts. I have a feeling that Forbes, Mazi and Washington are going much higher then the draft Knicks think. I think all three go in the 1st.

Forbes likely will just because he plays a premium position. With Smith and Washington yoy have to question whether teams will actually pull the trigger on them when they are otc in the 1st. They could, but they could also reach for premium positions

Yes, Washington would be much better at 58. I find it interesting that both Mayer/Kincaid didn't come in as national visits, I wonder if they are hiding their interest. I know they have had contact with both players.

I think Washington will go high because I think teams are going to take Kincaid and Mayer in the top 20. Mazi measurables you can’t teach. Forbes might go ahead of Porter.

It’s the blocking aspect that keeps a TE from contributing on day 1, not his catching ability, and Washington excels at that. First of all, I don’t buy the oversimplified media narrative that Washington is a project as a receiver. That’s just not the way he was used at Georgia, but the media sure loves them some quick bullet-point analysis.

What can Washington do for you day 1? He can create big mismatches. Put a DB on him…he can basically just turn around after 6 yards, use his body to shield, and drag the DB another 3-6 yards. Put a LB on him? Great, now there’s a lighter box for our running game. He’s a huge target for Dak to sail passes to in the red zone, as well. In short, we’re not going to have to wait on Washington to “develop”. He should see the field and help us win right away.
I think people forget that Washington was a WR at first. He knows how to run routes. He was just never asked to.

I view DW like a guy on a basketball team asked to play a role for the team, yeah he can shoot, but the team needs him to rebound and block shots. That young TE for UGA is so good receiving DW had to let that young man work, while he did the dirty work for the team.

Exactly. Whoever drafts him is going to (IMO) be getting the best TE in this draft. When we revisit this in 5 years.

+1.......Check out his stats. he only played 4 games as a freshman, 8 as So, then 15 as a senior. The route issues IMO is something thrown out there w/o a lot of merits. For example, notice his yards per catch average. Not bad for a player running poor routes. BTW......how in world do fans know what his route assignment was on any given play watching a TV screen. Just me but the only reason this kid isn't right there with the other top two TEs is a lack of experience. Only has one full year under his belt..........

Hell, the fact he's even being mentioned as a possible 1st with this limited experience, means a high ceiling.

Very good point ........but in college football, it happens all the time. Not sure some fans realize how much college coaches can control this kid's stats. Why do you think so many kids transfer to other programs/schools?

Im telling you. He could be the best TE in the draft when we revisit in 4 years. 5 if he is a first round pick. You add him to the Cowboys that is 1) A massive weapon for Dak 2) helps the run game immediately.

No question........this is why I would have zero problems taking him at 26, rather trade down a bit but if not I'm pulling the trigger and making him a huge part of my offense. Look at it this way........this isn't different from taking Tyler ( penalty machine and bit raw ). Any fan/poster saying today they would have taken Tyler with our 1st last year is lying. But thanks to McClay and MM, saw his ceiling.

Only way I dont take Washington is if one of the top OL falls, Bijan falls. Thats it.

If we can get for example Washington and Charbonnet in the second? Our offense will be humming next season.

I don’t consider Washington as being raw as a receiver: whenever he went out on routes he looked fine. He just happened to be on a team with the best pass catching TE prospect in years.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Jelani woods went in round 3 last year
Pitts was draft fourth overall and had over 1000 yards his rookie season
