PFT: Philly Heading For Its Own Favre-style Feud?

Philadelphia would become a legitimate threat if they finally got rid of McNabb.

He was only good when every thing was going his way, and we were rebuilding. He loves showing off when he's playing weaker teams.

But, put him in a game with a team that is equal to him, and have them stuff him a couple of times, and he panics, begins to throw the ball into the ground, and then usually limps off as if he's injured because he can't stand to be shown up.

I'd like to know what he's got on the Eagles that makes them keep fooling with him after he's ditched them twice after starting off with losing records- and the last time Garcia took them to the playoffs?

Garcia was gone the next season, and McNabb was back- and they sucked again this year.

Blame Reid as well.

insulate the Eagles from the potential embarrassment of watching McNabb win a Super Bowl with another team

McNabb????

Really? You did not expect it?

Looks to me like you thought McNabb was gonna still be the man.

I was a little optimistic.

I give you credit for going back and looking that up. Apparently, you remember all my posts.

Coming off an ACL injury, nobody expected Mcnabb to put up Pro Bowl numbers in 2007. It's not like he was at 100% during the season.

I think it's funny that Mcnabb is getting the blame for the Eagles stuggles and not making the playoffs last year. I can think of several times where the defense looked lost at there and ended blowing the game.

And going into last year-everyone in Philly, as well as the national sports media, said how McNabb made a *quick* recovery from his torn ACL, and was primed to make a big comeback. If you remember too, there were many reports on how he looked awefully sharp throwing the football in camp as well.

Now they're entitled to an excuse b/c they didn't know? What's their excuse this year?

Thats how they roll in Philly.

McNabb something-or-other

Poor baby responses? I was telling you the truth on why they didn't win the games.

Now that's funny-you said many times last year, around this time, how everything was *great* with McNabb, and how they were primed to make a big Super Bowl run.

Now you guys are entitled to a million excuses?

McNabb has been a superior to decent QB. You can't evaluate QBs based on singular games. But you can evaluate QBs in big games; rather people do.

He's been less than spectacular in big games. But you have to give him some props for getting to the NFCC game four years and to the SB once. Not winning enough does hurt him.

Why do you think Aikman was a first ballot HOF QB?

McNabb is likely playing his last year in Philly. He'll have to pull a rabbit out of the hat and win very big this year; like the SB most likely.

McNabb is a good QB. He'll be better this year although I'm not certain Philly will be. I don't take their demise as certain either. They still scare me.

So you admit you were lying when you said ......."Coming off an ACL injury, nobody expected Mcnabb to put up Pro Bowl numbers in 2007. It's not like he was at 100% during the season." ...... right?

Didn't I just write that I was a little optimistic?

I wasn't lying. I knew he wasn't going to put up Pro Bowl numbers. However, I didn't think he would struggle as much as he did during last season.

Is it just me, or why is it every time [insert Philly backup] comes in, those so-called WR "busts" like Brown, Curtis, Baskett, Avant, Lewis, LJ, Schobel, etc just look like PRO BOWLERS all of a sudden.(Schobel's numbers went UP when Garcia stepped in)

Not only Garcia, but Feeley also has much better abilities when it comes to getting rid of the ball quickly and hitting the tight spots. McNabb may still be a very good QB, but he nonetheless has a knack for holding onto the ball too long(which, of course, is a no-no in the WCO).

Again-it's laughable how the national media just entitles Philly a laundry list of excuses.

Whatever-but all of the Philly sports outlets(as well as the national media ones) went on and on how McNabb looked *sharp* in TC, how Kevin Curtis was blazing everyone, and how #5 was poised to make a big comeback.

It's not just you but other than Garcia taking them to the title that one year, does that argument really hold water. McNabb has not been McNabb for the last two years. McNabb has been a very good QB for quite awhile before then. Not HOF quality maybe but he's been pretty good. Not good enough is all.

Less not forget Jim Johnson and that Philly D.

If anything-Andy Reid has been fortunate on being able to keep this guy since the beginning of his tenure in '99. JJ's old age keeps him from being a HC candidate, especially with GMs looking for younger guys nowdays.(and Johnson seems to have a better grasp at evaluating talent on D than Reid/Heckert)

Pt being that Philly's big success over Reid's tenure is somewhat despite McNabb. I agree, McNabb has been a pretty good QB, but Jim Johnson probably deserves the most credit.

Goodlord ........ you specifically said he was gonna put up record numbers numerous times last year.

Then this year you say "nobody expected him to put up pro bowl numbers"

You eagle trolls wonder why we laugh at you.
