Its a shame that you have this thought process. When most MD's and Psychologists disagree with you. I mostly respect your posts and enjoy them, but as someone who is a recovering addict, you just lost a ton of respect in my books. This is blatantly ignorant and upsetting. As I said to an above poster. Go watch someone getting off of heroin. Watch them urinate and defecate all over themselves throwing up and tell me its not a disease. Many people are born with a predisposition to doing drugs and while they do have the choice to make of course, many have urges they cant figure out. Tell me that a pregnant mother doing drugs who passes her choice on to her unborn baby has given her child a "choice". I have been clean for more than 3 years and you have NO idea how hard it was for me to get there. How dare you sit there and comment from your high horse when you have no clue what the hell you are talking about. Shame on you
And if you would have been alive in the 17th century you would have believed leeches and blood letting was a credible medical cures because doctors said it was.

You do know that leeches are still used today in modern medicine, right?

European doctors have used them for decades and the FDA approved use of leeches as medical equipment to help heal wounds, restore blood flow to blocked arteries, clear clots, etc. Leeches produce anticoagulants that can help patients who have had grafts, etc.

So big whiff on this post. LOL.

in the early days of salem, "witches" were drowned or burned at the stake. if they survived these processes clearly they were guilty. unfortunately, exoneration had its drawbacks.

I am curious if the goal for some of you here is just to show how dumb and ignorant you can be.

No, you are a bad guy because you are calling someone with an illness weak. Addiction is a disease. Respect that.

I'll call you out on this nonsense every single time
I love being called out. You hadn't figured that out yet?

Just say no to part time Randy.

I always have a problem calling something a disease when many people turn away from it without any help at all. to me if you can say
"Today I will stop this" and hold to it then calling it a disease is wrong.
Lol. Silliness man.

No. Your post is incredibly dumb
Addiction cannot be attributed to anything you listed.

LOL I didn’t say addiction is attributed to anything I listed.

Did you not understand the concept, or are you purposefully ignoring it?

I mean he just insinuated above leeches were some wacky, bizarre, ineffective treatment from the 17th Century, when in fact, leeches are still used in various treatments this very day.

So frankly, I wouldn't put much credibility in his hot takes on medicine, addiction, disease, etc.

Speaking as a recovering addict I endorse this post. It amazes me how uneducated some on this forum are when it comes to mental health and addiction. @Bleu Star is comparing RG to Aldon Smith? They couldn't be more different. RG doesn't have any league issues other than the weed. Aldon Smith has uttered bomb threats to go along with a LONG list of issues. Some people here get an idea in their head, and no matter how dumb or ignorant it is, will clutch onto it like its going to kill them to be wrong.
Congrats to you man on your recovery. That's real.

But this guy can help himself. If he couldn't rush the edge no one would give two ***** about him. But we have all of these bleeding insides right now. It's hilarious and sickening all at the same time.

Many of us can use some help but an equal number of us can help ourselves.

I don't trust this guy and no level of cumbajah will change that.

Have a blessed day!

You know this how?

And the good news is you don't have trust him. You aren't the one making a decision about whether the Cowboys should keep him or not.

The bitterness some of you have has me seriously rethinking why I spend so much time around these boards. Its embarrassing to be associated with guys that don't understand mental disease, addiction and just think anyone suffering from that is "weak" and essentially a loser.

So it's OK to do coke if you are a HOFer but your not a HOFer your a low life scum for smoking weed and do not deserve a 2nd chance?
Zzzz...

Back to my original point, this guy bears no comparison to a perennial HoFer. He's a nobody. Compare him to another nobody that likes to partake in the grass like Aldon Smith and then we can talk.

Oh.. & btw, Aldon Smith will never be like and should also never be mentioned in the same sentence as LT.

Second chance? 3rd chance? Where do you draw the line? I'm really curious. Where do you draw the line?

I have a few friends who are in deep with the Nebraska football program so take this with a grain of salt but I've heard that he's been working his tale off and is in the best shape of his life. Both mentally and physically. And for the peeps that think RG 'was' just a pot head who was doing it for recreational purposes, he has a 'disease' and this was the only thing that made him feel somewhat 'normal'. Since the ban, he found a doc who has fixed his medication and he is finally on the right path. Some assume people smoke pot just because but there are people out there who actually use it to balance their brain activity and stop whatever negative thoughts are running through their heads. I'm pulling for this kid as should all Cowboy fans.
I hope your right. And I hope whatever problem he has is worked out. And I hope he keeps taking whatever meds they have him on. And I hope he is healthy and happy. But if they reinstate him it will be his last chance. I want him to do what he loves to do. Hunt QB’s.

Bitterness?

You got me sideways sir. I'm one of the most fun loving people around. Fun is my middle name both here and in my real daily life....

That said, I have my opinions which I have never been bashful about sharing.

I have recently developed a strong opinion against coddling any player that's not about getting with the program and forward movement. Presently I view those sad souls as Dez Bryant and Randy Gregory.

So you can continue to love on both. Send them fan gifts. Woship the ground they walk on. I'll sit back and enjoy the view.:popcorn:

Fair enough.

Although neither are very impressive initially, they are actually very close production wise even with TC playing +2 games and getting +89 snaps.

Unfortunately for that comparison Taco was a Rookie and will only get better barring injury ..... next year will be Randy's 4th in the league and he has made no progress.

It's not about loving the players. But kudos for your strawman argument.

I have no real emotion for either. But I won't get worked up over either. Maybe it's because I understand that what Gregory went through may indeed be a sickness, a disease that he struggled with. Who am I to judge him or anyone like him without knowing what they are going through?

I hope he can play. It would make the team better. But I don't plan on him being around and I doubt the Cowboys are really building their defensive plans around him either. If he works out great. If he doesn't, we are no worse off then than we are this very day. So the melodrama some of you have over him is peculiar to me.

Many people can live their entire lives healthy and not get diseases such as cancer, doesn't mean they aren't susceptible to them. All it means is they are lucky enough not to get them. Addiction which is something I have dealt with personally is most definitely a disease. If you can walk away from a drug it simply means you don't have an addictive personality. Unfortunately it is not that way for many people including myself. They have prescription drugs to help people with addiction to take away withdrawal symptoms. Tell me, if it isn't a disease why would they make addiction curbing medication when people can simply walk away from it? Have you ever seen a heroin addict up close and personal coming off of it? Why don't you watch that person defecating and throwing up all over the place without the drug in their system and come back here and have an actual discussion regarding addiction. Until then you seem like a very ignorant person.
Taking drugs from the very beginning is a choice. Tell me how many people choose to get a disease like cancer?

in the last 10 years the venom from bees, scorpions and everyone's favorite, the funnel web spider, have been used to treat a number of ailments.

Appreciate it. I respect anyone and will always feel for someone with an addiction problem. This one just happens to play for the team I love. So it happens.
