PFT: Schotty has confidence in Bass replacing Tyler Smith

I think we'll be fine with Bass despite the downgrade. People are giving a Giants DL more credit than they have ever shown to deserve.

If Bass is that good, then move Smith to LT when he returns and finally solve the problem there.
The problem(s) with this line of thinking;
** Tyler has made it clear that he prefers to stay at LG
** According to Schotty, Stephen and McClay, this has been Guyton's best camp. They have seen significant improvement.
** What about Broderick Jones? Pretty sure they didn't give a 3rd rounder thinking his talent is limited to swing. I believe their hope is that he can replace Steele as our future RT with a modest contract extension.

I don't feel like their interior line is all that great without Dexter Lawrence. D.J. Reader is still a fine nose tackle, but Shelby Harris and Chauncey Golston aren't world beaters. The Giants are relying on their linebackers (Burns, Carter and Reese) to create disruption.

Of course Schotty would say this.

But Bass' stats prove this isn't just coach-speak or empty praise. Bass is not as good as Tyler Smith. But that doesn't mean Bass isn't good.

Guyton can’t play LT.

Doubt he does any better at RT.

Pass-Blocking Grade: 49.8, allowing six sacks over the course of the season

Well we all know he was a project that would take approx 3 years to fully develop. He has all the tools, and the athletics to be good so now is his time to be that guy.
You as well as all Cowboy fans have a right to question his ability, but last year he had at minimum an average to good season for the 10 games he played with 31 pressures 2 sacks allowed. Not great but he worked hard and put in a lot of work to be a better OT in the off-season.
I person ally won't worry about him this year until he proves he can't be the guy.
Steele on the other hand will be this oline's Achilles heel

Scripted response.

I was looking forward to:

"We're screwed! Lights out! Game over!"

"On a sidenote, Javonte Williams seems to be developing some serious back issues".

"We will be activating all three quarterbacks for this game."

" Just because our best O-lineman, an All-Pro, is not playing, that doesn't mean......Oh God, who am I kidding......there is no way that we can......Look! we are going with Bass and we have a measurable amount of confidence in him. Now, if you will excuse me, I have an appointment with my realtor."
