He's never seen this kind of pressure for his job. Maybe it's time for both, he and the Steelers to part ways.
FYI....there were a couple of nuggets out there last week suggesting McCarthy would be the perfect replacement .........Pitt being his hometown

They gave Bill Cowher 15 years. He didn't win the SB until his 14th year. His only other ACFCG win was in his 4th year. They resisted calls to fire Cowher after he had two losing seasons in a row. It would out of character to fire Tomlin...on the other hand, it has now been 14 years since he sniffed the AFCGG or SB. Tomlin also has never had a losing record, although he was close with a few 8-8 years.

They absolutely won't fire Tomlin. That said, there were rumors that he was considering quitting before last year. It will be interesting to see if he says "yeah, that's enough" after this year. The team is nowhere near making a run.

Tomlin would not be an upgrade here.

It’s a moot point because it won’t happen and I’m fine with that but I’d disagree there. tomlin hasn’t had a quarterback since Ben retired (I know I know dak sucks), him in a new setting I think he’d still show he’s a top 6-7 coach in the league and may be able to hit buttons McCarthy can’t - particularly with discipline

That said McCarthy will be back and I don’t think tomlin is let go, nor do I think Jerry would hire him or tomlin would have interest

There is no question .. if the Steelers fire Tomlin, McCarthy would definitely take that job regardless of what Jerry offered.

Agreed. There's also no question Tomlin would be a big upgrade here. Unfortunately he wouldn't take a minimum type contract and he won't be considered because he does not strike me as a potential puppet.

He'd absolutely be what we needed. A coach with an actual backbone who won't stand for the nonsense. Unfortunately that's exactly what disqualifies him from consideration.

No QB, WR is a problem child and RB is a free agent.......they could get a boatload for Watts and rebuild from there.

Tomlin Jerry now that would be interesting . I think the Rooney family lets the GM / Coach duo do its thing and don’t get involved. . They rarely switch coaches .

True but they are so far away ..........need a lot of pieces. Maybe it's time for fresh leadership and that's not a knock against Tomlin.
