More accurately, it is "Lance will never be an NFL starter, barring injury, again." He was drafted and inserted as a starter by San Francisco, who later accessed he was not the future at quarterback and dumped him on the first mark thinking he could be a starter.
Tomayto, tomahto.

For every story like Trey Lance, drafted high, released / traded / performs bad there is an equal story to a QB getting drafted high / cut / traded / and performing well, I.E Brett Favre, Steve Young etc, Rich Gannon, etc.

It's incredible to witness in real time the level of incompetence within the Cowboys Executive Offices. They are paying Lance north of $5M this year and will likely let him walk next year. You would think they would get him out there for potential suitors to see for a possible trade rather than just letting him hit agency at the end of the season.

29 years without a Super Bowl win or even an appearance or even a conference championship game appearance ..

It's really funny how the Jones family has never had a single regret for any of their decisions.
Narcissist never have regret about anything they ever do.

This wasn't a risk. Lance is a QB who had not panned out and had been terrible from the start. This was pure stupidity.
Not from my point of view. Second chances do have changed people and activated their talent countless times. He can run, he had a QB rating of 71 in the 4 games he started in 2021 (2-2)... things could have gone differently.

I honestly don't wanna argue about this though, he's a bust and that's that. In my personal opinion giving it a try was absolutely ok, even for a fourth. The "QB whisperer" Fat Mike isn't that much of a QB coach either.

I think the point is that if you are going to use the pick because of the player's potential, then you should use the player, especially when the situation is tailor made for it. For most of us, Lance needed to be made the starter as soon as Prescott went down. The team traded for him to see if he could develop into the player San Fran hoped he'd be when it spent a first-rounder on him. One of the main knocks on him is his lack of experience, the need for playing time, so here we are ...
Agreed. I do not lament the pick but we have the opportunity to play him with not much risk.

Name them. Very very very few 2nd chances have worked out in the NFL. You do have an occasional Columbo, but we knew he was good and that was due to injury.

Aside from injuries, name those players who were terrible for 3 years and then became good. I honestly cannot think of any.

Jerral cannot ever admit to a mistake, reference the narcisssts prayer:

That didn't happen.
And if it did, it wasn't that bad.
And if it was, that's not a big deal.
And if it is, that's not my fault.
And if it was, I didn't mean it.
And if I did, you deserved it.

He's finally gotten around to getting mad at the fans.
Stealing th...err...borrowing indefinitely.

Yes,
Because he’s publicly gonna say that was a bad move… Trey Lance sucks… I never could have imagined he could suck this bad!!!

They traded a 4th for a player who was a top 5 QB 2 seasons prior. It was well worth the risk for a mere 4th round pick which a lot of teams begin to target boom or bust type players anyway. The level of butthurt still being projected has become comical!

When you have job for life because you were the fastest swimming sperm why regret anything? You are playing life on easy mode with cheat codes. It must mean you are truly a legend and great at any and everything you decide to do.

The Giants just released a top 10 drafted QB. Other teams can admit their mistakes, and take appropriate action. This team can't because we have malignant narcissists running it.

Good on you for enabling more of this to continue. You are truly a super fan.

Keep on piling on the fans Stephen.

Please.

It was a waste. The minute they sent the 4th it was a waste. That 4th could have. Been countless RBs that could have helped this team and helped the “franchise” QB you then signed to the largest deal in history.
Don't forget the $5.2M in cap space.

Why would they regret that trade?

3rd pick in the 1st round vs a 4th.

that’s easy.

risk vs reward.

hopefully we get to see the kid start a game soon.
Thats like saying a team trading a 4th for Ryan Leaf would be a good deal even though everyone saw him be a bust.

So maybe another team will trade us a 4th for Mazi. 1st vs 4th. Risk vs Reward, right.

Only GM that would make the trade is Jerry.
