Young was in the right. His receiver could have broken his neck on that play. The defensive guy used a "street" move to bring him down.

Sadly...that was about the funniest part in that whole lame movie.

Back to the topic at hand.

Although it shows his team mates that he is going to stand up to him, it was still a pretty stupid move on his part. He should have just pushed the guy or something else but taking a swing with your throwing hand right at a guy with a helmet on is just stupid.

Absolutely, just a stupid move by an otherwise good QB.

Since when is a panty slap a "street" reaction? Maybe in the Florida Keys?

I like Vince, however, the guy who said "he has it all" is correct:

The worst completion % in the league
The bottom QB rating

He has all that.

That'll earn him some respect among his teammates. Even on the defense.

:hammer: That got me excited just reading it, just imagine if you were there.

He wasn't drafted for his IQ.
No matter what Vince does, or how well he plays, some of you will forever call him an idiot just because of his Wonderlic. Kind of sad really.

Plus a great deal more class.

As for the punch; I saw it replayed several times on Jim Rome's show. I was having lunch in a restaurant and the sound was down so I could not hear what was said but they showed the hit on the WR and showed VY's reaction and the hit. It was more of a head slap with his fingers hitting the solid part of the helmet and the palm area hitting the face mask and he followed through with a push. It was not a fist to the face mask like they try to make it sound. Truly it was not the brightest move but his hand was not at nearly the risk as they try to make it sound.

My thought was that the Offense (especially the WR's) will definitely rally around VY after that. I already had a lot of respect for VY and he just earned some more from me. I think he likely did from his teammates as well. BTW I thought the DB deserved the headslap for the hit; it was not clean and it was unnecessary. It would be legal in a game but not a clean hit in a practice with half pads.

Sorry but this is kinda dumb. Young slapped someone on the side of the facemask/helmet after a cheap shot was taken on one of his receivers. Who bloody cares?

Parcells would routinely walk up to players and yank their facemasks and that was considered 'tough coaching.' Young slaps someone and hes going berserk? Give me a break.

Even I've seen the 'punch' over here on satto. Hardlyu a punch! Big deal about not much. I applaud him for sticking up for team mates.

How long have we whined about a lack of camaraderie from our boys? Constant reference to Teague's stand against TO on the star.....

I think it wasn't that dangerous for Young. Not sure it was particularly intelligent or classy though!

I always coach (in soccer) over here; get straight up, make sure you know who it was, then get your revenge by humiliating them using skill......then go right through them if the opportunity should arise!..... Don't create a childish scene at the original time though.

quit bashing young and his intelligence. so he didnt take the wonderlic seriously, or maybe he did but just stunk at it. maybe he has a learning disorder and has trouble taking certain styles of tests.

i went to school with a few people who had learning problems. i also went to school with some who couldn't take scantron style tests either. however if you give them questions and ask them to answer in essay form, they would tear it up with tons of details and facts.

look at bo jackson. his speech impediment makes him sound like a complete idiot. however, the guy is a very intelligent person. he just has a speech issue that he could never get corrected.

now, young may not be the brightest when it comes to book smarts.....but who cares, he is a football player. he has street smarts, from growing up how he grew up, and he definitely has football smarts. so what if he cant do calculus or even algebra.....he can find weakspots in the defense on the fly and counteract what they are doing to his offense. he can pick apart defenses with his arm and legs.

Vince is a winner, a leader, and one of the coolest cats (nerves wise) in the NFL.....honestly his calm demeanor reminds me of Montana and Elway....never gets flustered, never gets rattled. Just throws his teammates on his back and carries them to victory.

What? You went to a small special school? :D

Only jawing with you!

And before anybody starts....... no I don't look down on VY for getting the lowest ever score in the wonderlic test or whatever it was .... etc -It would be foolish seeing a only one of us (he and I) is living out their dream doing the perfect job!

.................... unless VY always wanted to play football! :D

True enough, and sticking up for a teammate goes a long way..but if you heard the way this story was reported in the immediate aftermath, you'd have thought Vince was General Douglas MacArthur , at the very least.

If the ESPN crew threw out 'fearless', 'leadership', or 'accountability' one more time, I was going to upchuck. The sheer hero worship - wow, it was stunning. Schlereth in particular couldn't babble - fawn enough.

You'd have thought Vince had single handedly taken on al-Quaida.
